IIS 5.0 indexing feature - Do keywords in pages help? - 6/19/2001 13:24:00
I'm curious. I'm maintaining an Intranet with approx 40 FrontPage subwebs currently in it. I'm using the IIS 5.0 Indexing feature and when I do searches I sometimes get strange results. ***PLEASE NOTE*** I know there are other search engines softwares out there, but I'm not going to be using any of them, regardless of if they are better or not. Please don't try to convince me otherwise, the reason for this, simply put, is corporate beauracracy & b.s. politics. With that out of the way, here's my question. I'd like to improve the search results that are returned when a search is done. For instance, if someone types "Apples and Oranges" in the search box, if some of my pages have the meta keywords "apples" "oranges" in the html code, would this produce a search result with those pages weighted more heavily than if I didn't have the keywords in there at all. In other words, do meta keywords have any affect on the pages that are returned with the IIS Indexing service? Dave "and the guitar players look damaged, they've been outcasts all their lives"
