I really like it. It does seem a tad dark...what would be cool is to have the main page thumbnails (just the ones that serve as a category menu) switch to color when you hover them, since the actual large pics are in color.....

I love the single color pic on the gallery pages...

Hi Mike,

Works beeeeeyewteeefullleeeee for me :-) I like the "black and white 'photo theme" on the main site and the way it bursts into colour for the galleries. Nice.

BTW after all that hard work you might like to pop down to your local library and see if they can beg borrow or steal a copy of "African Genesis" by Robert Ardrey. A marvellous book - vey hard to get hold of now - but worth it. Look up "howler monkey" in the index. Be prepared to spend days having to stop whatever you're doing for a long session of laughing like a maniac (or a howler monkey :))

What a wonderful personal photo gallery web site. I enjoyed browsing through it.

I hadn't seen peppergals comment about the roll over B&W to color change, but I was half expecting that while I was on the site. I share her opinion that it would be a nice touch.

I'm going to explore that camera for my own personal use now.

Thanks Karen, I really had no idea what it was I just thought it was cool to find it out in the woods.:)
As for the category rollovers on the Home page, something like this perhaps? I wouldn't want to go much further with the mouseovers though. I think it might detract from the effect when the larger image comes up.

Thanks for the comments everyone.:)

Minix, I am thoroughly loving this camera.:) All I have to do now is learn how to use it properly. It's no point and shoot...

Gee, Mike, I would hate to think how much more beautiful those pics could be if you were a professional photographer. They're breathtaking.

The new site design is pretty exciting too. I think the drab blue text links on the side detract from your overall cool black and white design.

This is a little late, but I just had to comment about the beautiful photos. Good work.

Terry, any suggestions? Since I do slip a little color in should I go back to greyscale on the menu?

Mike, I would love to give a good suggestion right now, however, I'm leaving in about 15 minutes. Why not white text on a black rectangle suggesting buttons but with thin grey lines separating the text. Make any sense? If not, I'll be back tomorrow and maybe I can graphically make a suggestion. OK?

BTW the yellow flower looks like a Hibiscus and the other one is some type of Bromiliad
I am not sure of the spelling on either.

How about mouseovers set up something like this?
The scripts don't work quite the way I'd like in Mozilla, Firebird or NS since you actually have to mouse over the text for it to show but it's workable (I think).

Comments?

This is only a test page...:)

Shirley I'll check those IDs out and correct, thanks for the input.

Very nice indeed. Adds a nice technical aspect to the design. Thanks, I was thinking about it all last evening and I really like your solution best. Will the black with grey text stay static when a person goes to that particular page?

I haven't tried a second page yet Terry. I can keep the onactive text but I'm not sure about the background (not my scripting LOL). I'll give it a go when I get a chance.

When you mouseover the navigation on the left, the td changes to black, but the text does not change until you mouseover that as well.

It seems to work OK in IE but there are issues with Moz and NS. I guess I need further searching for a script that works in the up and coming browsers.:)

Mike, what a beautiful site, thanks so much for sharing your photos. I first actually saw and read some of your work at digicam, and was pleased to read your posts on this forum as well, which have been very helpful, thanks.

deepak welcome! - I get the feeling that you want people to visit your site?! why not post a url in the site critiques section rather than dropping your link into random threads, it's not very polite :)
