I have looked all over MS and these forums as well - no answers. We have a server-based FP2000 web running on W98 with PWS, publishing to IIS at a host. I have seen the comments about PWS, but it does allow us to have a test server environment. Problems started yesterday when locally editing a page with off-site links. I used ctrl-click to follow a link and instead of showing the page, it tried to log onto the other party's server. Authentication attempts and errors followed.
Then, FP would not allow the editing of certain pages due to Author problems. I tried replacing the site, recreating the virtual directory in PWS, etc. If I try to publish locally or to the host, I get a Server "" time out error. If I open the site directly on the host and try to publish back to the local server, I get a "Cannot convert a virtual directory into a subweb remotely. Ask your web administrator or ISP to do this for you."
Anyone have any ideas?
