Security Alert for Administrators - 6/21/2001 20:31:00
Microsoft said a "serious vulnerability" in its Web server software could allow hackers to take over and manipulate computers running the software. A security patch is ready for download.

Just my 2 cents here. We've installed SP2 and about 4 hotfixes after that. MS has a tool available for download from www.microsoft.com/security called the hotfix checking tool. It'll let you know what IIS hotfixes are out there that you need.

Jess, you just unemployed me. I sit in this forum a mere decoration, substantiating my existence by posting the occasional Security Alert.

Now I'm superfluous! Sniff!

Bri,

Still plenty of great sites you can pick up info on and earn 'job security' It's 1:30am now and I need to be up in 6 hours but I'll try to post a few urls with things like port checks, other hacker tools er rather security alerts and etc that have been sent my way from time to time. In fact would be great if we compiled a list here. I bet there are others that have nice security announcement sites and such...

OH btw, Microsoft just released a technote on hardening the security in IIS at: www.microsoft.com/isn you might want to check out as well. A few nice tidbits in there.
