Purchasing FP serial numbers? - 3/19/2004 12:45:09
I'm not sure which forum to put this in. I was wondering if there was a place to purchase serial numbers for FrontPage 2002? I would like to equip the 2 PCs in my home office. Right now, I have 1 2002 CD and it seems retail shops are only selling the 2003 version. I was hoping to be able to achieve this today, so ordering online is not an option. Any suggestions?

You can install the single disc on two different computers.
Other than that, you might try looking on ebay for someone who only installed it on one computer and wishes to sell their CD.
I'd sell you mine but I'm afraid I may upgrade to a better computer and I don't want to upgrade to 2003...so I'm hanging on to it. :-(
What really stinks is that Microsoft won't let you extend your disc...for instance, a friend of mine had three computers - one at home and one at work. His computer at work was replaced and he couldn't install FP on the new one because he had already installed it on two. He called Microsoft to see if he could purchase additional "permission" (for want of a better term) to install the disc on a third computer, and they said No. Jerks.

You can!!!!!????? I've never seen that on any of my MS Lic agreements.
On the other hand, if a PC has been replaced and the software removed or the PC is dumped, HD damaged, etc. then the licence is NOT being used is it?

Yes, you can. At least, with Microsoft FP2002 you can. I don't know about others like Word. I would assume that you can't do it with the OS, though.
It does have some sort of tracking device in it, as it knows if you try to install it on a third computer. It will give you a warning message saying that this software has already been installed on two computers and will cease to fully function in 45 days.

Usually, you can install it on a desk top and a laptop.
