Waiting for your reply

LoriL1212 -> RE: Can you? (New Website) (3/21/2004 11:25:00)

1. Logo and all top navigation graphics are pixelated. Need to optimized a bit higher to preserve clarity.

2. I don't like the empty grey bar between the nav and the content. If you want a separator for the nav and content, I would make it only 1px high (the same as the red center bar is wide)

3. The image on the left (at 1024x768 at least) does not fill the space (and fully fill the area that the buttons do). I would resize to match the width of the 3 buttons combined.

4. Loose the green bar at the bottom (where the copy/credit is) and choose a color from what you have within the site.

INSIDE

5. Make the logo area OR the buttons all the same width (where the red bar lines up with the left side of the HOME navigation box) .... OR better yet, loose the red bar.

funny typo...home page and also saw it on "Achievements". Should be: lack, not lake.

wish I had a lake of proper financial resources....

Is your target audience mostly US or English speaking? Nonetheless, you might want to have the site proofread by a professional. Many of the sentences are extremely long and require a second pass. In contrast many of the bulleted lists are too consise, making them hard to understand as well.

I usually make the Home link on the home page inactive or just leave it off entirely, it just confuses the user because when you click nothing seems to happen...

jaybee -> RE: Can you? (New Website) (3/21/2004 19:21:55)

Nice try and not a counter in sight.

Agree with Lori on design issues and of course ellipisces is right on the grammer and spelling front. Always looks more professional if the language you have chosen to display it in is correct. Having said that..... it's a damn sight better than a lot of sites developed by Brits!!!

Minix -> RE: Can you? (New Website) (3/21/2004 21:03:40)

This is a non-denominational, non- egalitarian, non-utilitarian, non-sequitered, non-monetarian critique. Hire somebody to work on the syntax and sentence structures.

Giomanach -> RE: Can you? (New Website) (3/22/2004 4:22:46)

NIce, not too compact, and YAY no Counter[:D]

The images have been softened or compressed with a lack of quality. Run them through Photoshop of Fireworks, not PSP

Otherwise, everything else has been said

d a v e -> RE: Can you? (New Website) (3/22/2004 4:27:37)

what's wrong with PSP?!

they should be gifs, then they won't look soft and compressed

I demand equal rights for PNGs!!! [:)]

d a v e -> RE: Can you? (New Website) (3/22/2004 5:04:19)

or png's then...

jaybee -> RE: Can you? (New Website) (3/22/2004 5:18:05)

Thank you. [:D]

abdulsamikhan -> RE: Can you? (New Website) (3/22/2004 10:49:17)

Thanks everybody who consider my website to Criticize:

First of I talk to LoriL1212 :

You are absolutely right. I will change all the design mistakes you have pointed and I agree with them. Thank you Lori

Dear ellipisces and Jaybee:
Thank you for studying the website deeply for the syntaxes and sentences as well as grammer. Actually, I am from Pakistan. I am working for my client. All the text has been provided by my client and when I asked him for the grammer mistakes, he said paste it as it is that he has checked and proof read all the text. So I am bound to paste as it is, according to my client's will. And I hope you can understand my situation.

Dear Giomanach:

I am happy that you like the non-counter website. If you ask me that "Do you like counters?" then my answer will "I don't like counters on any website, there are plenty of other tools to monitor the website's traffic". All the websites on which the counter is present is according the the demand of my client, and I couldn't do anything except to fit the counter.

Dear All,

I would fix all the graphics and give it some professional touch for the better look... You can give it a visit after a week.

Thanks once again to all my senior Professionals.

BamseIsUnix -> RE: Can you? (New Website) (3/24/2004 6:59:04)

The site looks very impressive. Wow.

Only one problem I find. We've had this conversation before about using tables for layout, but in this case, losing ALL the tables and font tags on this site would shrink the code to 1/3. Use CSS. That would mean faster loading, saved bandwidth and compatibility with every browser you ever might imagine. And because of this, unfortunately, abdulsamikhan, I think this is one of those sites which are perfectly inaccessible for blind people with screen readers. Tables are not for layout. The language isn't called HTMSL or "HyperText Markup and Style Language".

But the site looks really cool. Nothing to complain about that.

I you can, maybe you should increase the font size a bit.

Regards,
Bamse

d a v e -> RE: Can you? (New Website) (3/24/2004 7:36:47)

tables aren't inherently screen reader unfriendly - only if they don't make sense when linearised.

if you're going to comment every time that someone uses tables at least point them to some css positioning resources that they can use if they decide to take your advice and include some beginners sites in that list because obviously someone still using font tags isn't going to find css-p that easy.

LoriL1212 -> RE: Can you? (New Website) (3/24/2004 9:09:25)

I 100% agree.

Thank you Dave!

In Firefox I can increase the text size myself - ad infinitum! In this respect accessibilty has been built in, well done. See attachment.

Screen readers and tables are a bad match, though.

Cheers
Carol

Well, maybe I'll try to cut it down instead. Thanks.[:)]

abdulsamikhan -> RE: Can you? (New Website) (3/26/2004 8:21:35)

In connection with all the above comments I wanna say something:

First check this website in different resolutions e.g. 800 x 600, and in higher resolutions the design should not disturb. I always attach CSS to the webpage and kept all the CSS in separate folder i.e. css/css.css. Once I configure the Sub Page then I make Save As approach for different links/subpages...

I think the Tables are the easiest to:

Layout the Design
Maintain the Site
Control the Contents etc...

I also agree with the above comments that (if the border is = 0) it doesn't effect on the design's look...

What do you people say more about this...?

gorilla -> RE: Can you? (New Website) (3/26/2004 10:16:33)

A few points:

If you're using frontpage previewing from the file menu allows you to preview not only in different browsers but at different resolutions also.

There are errors in English on the pages BUT many of what some have called errors are in fact very typical of English usage amongst educated people in (alphabetcal order so nobody get annoyed please)

Bangladesh
India
Pakistan

They are so prevalent that it really is more accurate to say that they are typical subcontinental usage than errors. As I speak Hiberno-English with what by now is mostly a mixture of a Southside Dublin accent and a Copenhagen accent for some words/sounds I can testify that some of the things that for example Amercans or Jamaicans say sound weird to me.

<digression> Note to Floridans - I haven't been back to Florida ever since the wife of a senior politician told me that I spoke "such good English" unfortunately I had my mouth full of mango and blood orange juice at the time and the resulting spray/splutter and wrecked dress expressed both my shock (I speak it a hell of a lot better than she'all did) and my revenge </digression>

- anyway enough of the digressions. English as a langauge is very flexible that is its great beauty.

As you've used percentages the layout should not deform and indeed does not do so in Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Opera.

On this page:

http://www.khairulkaseer.org/links.htm

I think you should put in text explaining the purpose of the link. What do those sites do? Something along the lines of

This link takes you .... who deal with .....

I really think that you should use css rather than those ghastly front page rollovers for your rollover effects. You'll drastically cut loading time apart from anything else. The FP rollovers also have a nasty habit of browser crashing.

And as implemented on your site don't work in other browsers anyway.

On this page:

http://www.khairulkaseer.org/sitemap.htm

you should fill in the coloured bar with text.

Sitewide the whole thing is pleasing. Perhaps a little sparse in information.

A pleasingly well done site.

gorilla -> RE: Can you? (New Website) (3/26/2004 10:19:42)

And no I don't agree that tables are easier for layout. [:)] They are one way of doing it. A css layout would probably be no more difficult or easy to do so long as you keep the layout consistent and the structure clear.

Apart from their other disadvantages. Table (grid) based layouts tend very quickly to involve lots and lots of difficult to keep track of code and can be very very high maintenance.

I would encourage you strongly to explore the CSS way of doing things.

You've done good work here - add another tool to your toolbox - and enjoy the greater professional freedom that will result therefrom.

"Rollovers"? Well that's maybe why I don't see any "rollovers". I'm on Mozilla Firefox.

But your site works for me and as I said, looks good for me.

Bamse
