Ahhhh, well you see, he's telling the truth. He uses a "web design" company. Hard as it may be to believe...... I've seen some of their other sites. They're not quite so bad but they're still not good. He pays them £50 per hour for that garbage.

I believe that Notetab Standard ($9.95 US) has a built in thesaurus and spell checker.

http://www.notetab.com

Superior in many ways to Notepad. The free version is pretty cool too.

Try your local library. They should all have PCs with internet access now. You just sign up with them, get an ID number, then it's free. Smaller libraries obviously have less machines so you may need to book sessions but the big-uns you can usually walk straight on.

You obviously don't live up north then? No matter whether your a member or what, you have to pay for the Internet at the local library here. Even the one in Newcastle you have to pay for, I've even tried the Internet café round the corner, that costs even more, and they use Macs too.

Karen - Just downloaded Notetab Light, shall play with it later, after the boss has gone home:)

I know you can do better than that, so why don't you? Your age has nothing to do with it, it's your professionalism and presentation.

If you don't get another job, (even if you do, doesn't hurt to have a second string) look in the phone book for local small business advisers in your area. There are free funded ones around like Business Link. Go talk to them. Tell them what you can do and your worries about being too young. Get their advice. They may even put your name forward when contacts come in looking for sites.

As for talking some sense into him...... I've tried. He doesn't understand the concept of sense. I suspect that his "designer" is family but I've yet to prove it.

WHAT! You're right, I live in Berkshire but I do a lot of research in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and surrounds. They all have free access. It must be down to your local council. That's atrocious!

Your in your 20s/30s (rough guess) and you don't know how to talk some sense into a man???? Now I know why I'm having trouble getting a girlfriend, I'm not looking at the right end of the country:), few tips, these are from a colleague of mine:

1. Get him drunk
2. Make him sign a contract, whilst drunk
3. Next day, email him, saying you want to discuss last nights business agreement
4. Laugh as hard as you can

:)

Miikka,

I become (very) annoyed when somebody repeatedly gets the facts wrong and pushes a particular agenda on the basis of those errors. Your "facts" (plural) were wrong. You've done quite a few postings pushing a particular point of view. As it happens I share that point point of view. What has that got to do with anything?

The origin of word "critique" is the Greek word "Kritikos" meaning either the giving of a judgement. Or the impartial and judicious giving of helpful advice typically to somebody wrestling with a dilemma.

In other words it is a helpful and constructive act. Review some of your postings and you will see that whatever you meant was quite different from what you said, and quite frankly what you said was often singularly unhelpful.

At risk of falling into the deconstructionist camp :) sometimes context is very important.

Many people (needlessly but that is another story) are unsure of their usage of computers, have worked very hard grappling with what to them are utterly alien concepts. Some of them come hear for help. Fingerwagging and things like "please don't use tables for layout" without actually giving constructive advice by pointing out what the strenghts are and how it may be bettered far from helping are likely to drive awat the very people who need help most. The amateur or the would be professional who wants to learn.

I fail utterly to see how correcting a set of (very) factually wrong statements comes under the heading of a "hate post." By no means stop giving critques - but try to do it in the spirit of the thing yes?

I have answered other points here.

Incidentally do some googling for

Lindlbom "Incrementalism the science of muddling through" and (same author)

"incrementalism still muddling not yet through."

Ahhhh the callowness of Yoof!

Yup that's me, in my twenties......... (yet again) :)

I am more than capable of handling a man but this is one I'd rather not touch with a barge pole. End of a phone line is as up close and personal as I want to get thanks.

Mmmmmmmmmmm, No.
I offered to re-do it for free and he turned me down.

Told him he was being ripped off. He still said no.

That's why I think it must be family or close friend.

Or Blackmail.

Or Death threats

or.............

Oh and, the biggest reason???????

He doesn't think there's anything wrong with it!

gorilla, thanks.

But hey... please people don't use my real name, it's kinda misleading. "Mika" is a woman's name in Japan but "Michael" and "Micah" are man's. So people have trouble figuring out which one I am.
"Bamse" may sound like a woman's name somewhere, but it's a rather popular male dog's name in Sweden. It's also a name of "The strongest bear in the world", a swedish cartoon character. In Finland, the bear doesn't have a name at all. He's name is only "the bear".

Ok so "Miikka" is a typical finnish name for a man.
And Bamse is now Unix, although I'm currently on Win98. :)

What a puzzle...

But this was off topic.

Regards,
Bamse

Det var so lidt bamse :-)

Men jeg skal sporg til dig: Hvis du gidder ikke at vi brugger dit navn hvorfor er dit navn in profilen?

Gorilla

Post Scriptum: "Bamse" betyder "Teddybear" i dansk o's :-)
