Guest -> Upload problems (7/25/2001 13:26:00)

I am wondering if anyone can help me determine what is stopping me from upload my FrontPage built website. I have been receiving error messages while attempting to upload. The first read like this: Server error: Cannot create folder:"D\home\nt10t155\_themes\ams-theme2". The "nt10t155" is the username for this site, the rest is more or less self explanatory.

As a result, I removed the theme from the site and built it without it. The next error message was as follows: Server error: Cannot create folder:"D\home\nt10t155\_borders\_uti_cnf".

Any ideas??? Thanks!

I'm thinking that somehow all those folders already exist on your server, but FP doesn't see them because they were either FTP'd there or placed there using the servers file system instead of FP.

FP bumps into them, can't overwrite them because it can't see them, and craps out.

If such is the case, then you need to use FTP to get rid of them, and publish using FP.

How large is your web (how many files) and what are the cache settings in FPSE's tab in IIS? Chances are they aren't set correctly. You'll want them set to >1000 files. I've seen this many times in the past with very large webs. Condensing the web or breaking it into subwebs usually helps. Also make sure the server you're publishing to isn't overloaded...

Call me crazy, but but I haven't heard anyone try the simple thing, checking permissions. I've had this message pop up meany times and permissions were the problem.
