Bnugent -> Server ASP (7/25/2001 13:31:00)

I have a W2K server. How can I make sure or set it so that is allows ASP or is this done automatically? Thanks

ASP should be "on" by default....Check to see if you have "scripting" turned on for your web in ISM/MMC if you see that ASP is not working.

Looked for it, thought I found it and turned it on but it is still not working. Maybe I am going about this all wrong. Where in ISM should I be looking for it. Also, maybe my structure is wrong in. I have the name of my machine in their, under that I have two webs, 1) is called Intranet, 2) is called Administation Web Site. Is this the correct strucutre that I should have when setting it up. Also, could it be that there are old extensions on that server?

In ISM right click on your <web name> go to "Properties" >>>>> "Directory" tab >>>>at the bottom look for "Execute Permissions" and set to "script only".
Stop and restart IIS.

Thanks I found it just like you said. But for some reason, ASP is still not working on my intranet. Could it be any other settings? This is my first time using our server to host an intranet site.

so I thought....Well my databases are all working. I am having a problem using form. It says that extensions are not installed and I have tried to delete and reinstall to no avail. But if extensions are not installed how can the db's work. Very weird...Also, as I said before, when I click on web settings it says that no server currently in use and that extensions are 4.0.2.2717. Any ideas....

What exactly is the error message you get when submitting a form?

Is the form supposed to send e-mail or just write to a file?

Do you get anything in "Event Viewer" for an error ID?

Hey Rian. Thanks for all of your help thus far. Hopefully we can find an answer to all of this...

Here is the error:

FrontPage Run-Time Component Page
You have submitted a form or followed a link to a page that requires a web server and the FrontPage Server Extensions to function properly.

This form or other FrontPage component will work correctly if you publish this web to a web server that has the FrontPage Server Extensions installed.

Click the <Back> arrow to return to the previous page.

It weird because as I said earlier, my databases work fine. ASP is now working, but when I have the web opened live under web settings it says: No Server Currently in Use. Also, extensions are: 4.0.2.2717 according to web settings. I tried to run the latest settings and it said something like the extensions could not be read from IIS or something to that effect. My form is simply a query that will post to another page....Thanks once again for your time and help. I appreciate it very much...Any ideas..
