Cannot access with frontpage from home. - 7/27/2001 15:50:00
Hello my name is Chris and I'm a web guy now running my own server. I can access all the sites I host from the office just fine. When I try to access them from home it keeps rejecting my login info. My clients that work on their own sites are also having the same problems.
Also my server is not in my office it is co located in another town.
What do you think?.......

Sounds like you've got the premissions set wrong. Is the server Win. or Unix?

You say "in another town" - I assume PC anywhere? What is the connection from your location to the server? Is it thru a Internet connection or a network connection?

OK - so if you are accessing the webs thru the network, but anyone outside the network cannot - it sounds like you have MS security set. Change it to Basic Authenication and you should be OK.

Rian or Storm would be better at this, I don't do too much Win servers.

Chris, one more thing kinda off topic. Install terminal services on your server in remote administration mode (it's free/included in w2k with 2 users max). It's much faster than pcNowhere and more stable.

Just thought I'd toss out a tip.

Jess
