PWS Questions - 8/18/2001 13:57:00
I have always had the PWS on my computer and after my recent reformatting downloaded a new copy and installed it. So far so good. However I am not sure if I was ever using it really, or using it correctly.

My FP webs were always at c:\inetpub\wwwroot\MyWebs\

I now have them all on various zip discs and am about to start publishing back but thought I would wait and get some words of wisdom first! Do I publish back to the location above or do I publish to http://localhost/?

What is the difference? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?

Finally is it possible to use the PWS to run perl/cgi scripts? I imagine not but thought it worth asking!

Doesn't matter - it's the same. I have always published to http://127.0.0.1/? just because it's less typing

Yep - just install perl on your machine.

I thought you were upgrading to W2K? If so, don't even mess with P{WS - use IIS

Thanks Gil.

I decided not to upgrade - an upgrade here costs £250 (About $300) so I have decided to hang in until I see what the story is in October with Windows XP.

The price of software here is ludicrous - I noticed that even the upgrade to Windows 98 from Windows 95 is still priced at £175.
