POP3 Accounts - 8/20/2001 23:52:00
Hi All,
we want to provide POP3 accounts for the domains on our IIS server. Is Microsoft Exchange the way to go, or is there a more affordable option out there? Any comments more than welcome.

Thanks

Vince

if your looking to save yourself some cash and want something thats cheap and lasts long time i would look towards a unix flavor, freebsd, linux, etc. and run sendmail.

Check out mailgate if your not brave enough for linux etc.

very small and expandable, support people are really helpful, also acts as a proxy server to but they do something called popweasel too.

Here is another option...not sure about pricing versus Exchange at this time...

IMHO, IMail is the best mail server available for a Win Platform.

Hi All,
thanks for all the great suggestions. I'm now just battling with these license schemes to find out how much they really cost.

Thank again

Vince

Ditto Gil's opinion on IMail; it's great for a IIS or NT configuration. Never had a problem with it.
