vteccruzn -> FTP and wwwroot folders (8/20/2001 14:19:00)

Hi, I have win 2k and IIS5.0 and frontpage extensions installed2002, and I am on cable connection.

Now, when I"m on my own computer and go to IE. and type in http://24.24.233.195 or ftp://24.24.233.195 it comes up fine,

but internet users cannot see the ftp site or the website.

I must be missing a setting somewhere... help!

Thanks
Scott

24.24.xxx.xxx is a block assigned to Road Runner (Time Warner) for address resolution of it's clients in Orange County.

I believe that I can't access the site, becuase i can ping the computer, hm, does anyone know what folder permissions I have to set on ftp and wwwroot on win2k machine?

Just a thought here.. RR may have those ports blocked. Technically (for most cable customers), you're not supposed to be running a web or ftp server with a residential account.

I'd bet you can't access the site because port 80, 21 and probably most others are not allowed - that IP is for a connection to the 'Net, not a swerver and they (RR) are not going to allow it.

Hi Gil,

I have actually had it up for a few days, and then I made some changes to it, and its not working anymore. I believe its the premissions in win2k not allowing it to see the ftp folders! Does anyone know a good link or tutorial to IIS 5.0.
