Preview in browser not correct? - 4/17/2004 4:53:35
I periodically check here for info but cannot find anything for this (in Frontpage2000):
When updating I set up my new page, added hyperlinks, icons, picture links, etc. When I use "Preview in browser" for the whole site, only the type shows on the new page (all the old pages work correctly)--no links, icons, etc. If I do a "preview in browser" for that page only, everything shows up and works.
I updated my 'index' page & 'links' page also and they work OK when previewing the whole site and individually.
Now---which version will show up when I update? Right one or wrong one? I don't want to update until I know it will be right as I won't have an internet connection for about a week after posting.
Thanks
DICK

Where are you doing these updates? On your own machine or direct on the host?

So now I'm completely confused. What do you mean Preview in browser for the whole site and for the page?

are you saying the page is on your machine and the whole site is on the host? Or they're both on your machine?

It's just that FP2000 has one option for Preview in Browser and it shows you just the page you've selected. From there you can click through to the rest of your site if you've set the links and pages up. Unless you've got an add-on that I haven't.

Sorry for the confusion. Try to clear it up. I work up my update pages on my puter. The old pages are still on my puter after I upload them to host site. When I think the page is done, I save it and then click 'file' and in the dropdown menu, click 'preview in browser'. After I check the new page and it's OK, I go to 'navigation' and then open the first page of my site. Then I click 'file' & 'preview in browser' and check out the whole site from the front page on. If everything works, then I update to the host site.
I think I found out what was going on--I had 2 pages for the new page, one with the icons, hyperlinks, etc (jan--feb.htm) and the other was just the written material (jan--feb'04.htm) . I deleted the bad one but now when I click on 'preview in browser' nothing happens and I have to do 'ctrl, alt, del' to exit the program. Not sure what happened there.
Any ideas?
AND--THANKS for your help!
DICK
On edit: I'll be online for the next few hrs and will check back occassionally. OR--email me at : acker1atearthlink.net

Err yes, that'll do it. :)

Try recalculating your hyperlinks (Tools menu)
If you still have trouble, delete the page completely and start again.
