Restart FP Extensions, Lose Shared Borders? - 10/9/2001 18:05:00
Recently when I went to publish changes to my website using the Publish option on FP, the following message appeared "Server error, cannot close file "/a2/mynhrc/_vti_pvt/service.cnf. After reading several entried in this forum, I found a recommendation from one of the moderators to have the hosting company reload the the FP extensions. When I forwarded this info to them, this is the response I received: "To restart the frontpage extensions I will have to delete all folders that are created by Frontpage, then turn off the extensions then turn them back on. This should not be a problem as long as you are NOT using shared boarders." I am using shared border on all my pages and would like to continue. My questions are: 1. Does this response sound correct? 2. Can't the host just delete the file the the server says can't be closed. (I'm not sure where the file came from, I know I didn't create it and I can't access it live on the server). Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time!

It may be possible for the admin to fix that file, but it's industry standard to just reinstall FP server exensions. All you have to do is publish your site again after the deed is done, and all will be well.
