Hi there, and welcome! My first opinion is it's way too plain for a real estate site selling homes in Spain. You need pictures of the Spanish countryside or villas on the first page to grab me and make me say YEAH!!! I WANT TO LIVE THERE!!! The little house graphic with the sun going up is dull and doesn't do anything for me. Less words on the front page would be helpful too. Also, when speaking of your company, saying "Homes in Spain are real estate agents..." is grammatically incorrect. "Homes in Spain" is one entity and therefore should be singular - Homes in Spain consists of real estate agents... or Homes in Spain is made up of ....etc. Don't use "are" but "is." Karen

Needs a makeover - Don't use COmic Sans, dont't use Times New Roman. Images of the proerpties are required. Umm, better colour scheme. More than just, umm that really. Karens said it all

Furthermore, it might help a little to keep "Homes in Spain" when speaking of the company a seperate color as you have, but additionally, make it bold so that it's easier to see that you're talking a bout the COMPANY, not homes that are in Spain. I'd go for colors of the Spanish Flag or something traditionally Spanish for a scheme. Do some research on Spain and look at some Spanish websites to jumpstart some ideas. You need something vibrant, catching - yelling "COME TO SPAIN" without being obnoxious. It's a fine line to walk...catchy and grabbing, withotu being obnoxious.

look at some Spanish websites to jumpstart some ideas. Well, scratch that. most of the ones I found after a quick google search were either tacky, boring, or both. You've got a chance to outshine them all!

Thanks for the help - I know it is as dull as dishwater!!!!! Thats why I was hoping for some honest critism. Anyway, if anyone has any ideas, tips, on how I can jazz things up and make it look a little more professional it is appreciated. Great forum by the way - just wish I had more hours in the day to read through the tutorials, etc. Thanks again for the advice.

When I think of "homes in Spain", I immediately remember the signature colors in the homes in that location of the world - there are many here in South Florida that try to immulate that feel, so this color scheme is something I well know. Therefore, that would be the concept for a website with that basis. This link represents my thoughts (if this were a site "I" was designing), but I did not spend much time on it, so it is far from perfect -- as well, I borrowed one of your home photos to build the look, but since it was not of a very high quality (at least the ones from the site) it does not well represent the perfect home - but I think you will get the idea :) http://www.zenfulcreations.com/clients/ofw/spain.gif The other two photos are my own (the one under the locations to the left, and the one in the top right)... The one in the top right corner is the one that was used to build the color pallete for what you see there :)

Thank you Karen and Terry - I look at it again, and it is not the greatest, but I guess it gets my ideas across :)

Nice Lori. Can you tell me how that 125K gif representation will convert into a working web page as far as load time - image weight and html code weight - on a dial up? If you were to do that same rendition using CSS or tables or a combo, what would the final weight be for load time factors? Is the font that you are using a universal one that displays across the board, or do you have to create graphics to represent that particular font? Thanks.

Minix, Unfortunately, until a mockup is sliced up and coded, it is impossible to determine the load time. I can tell you however, that if I were to fully design a site using that mockup, there are only four parts that would that would be sliced into images. The bottom L, the top R, and the house in the center(which would be cut into 2 separate images so as to keep files small). The rest would be text - the company name/header, actual content, navigation and copyright. Further, the house would be the only "jpg" with the others being optimized as "gif". The font that is faded into the "graphical" parts is Armenia, and would be sliced along with the other parts that would represent images. The company name is Century Gothic, as is the Navigation and the Copyright. The content is Arial. These are both found on standard systems, and do not require installation for them to be viewed correctly :)

Thanks very much Lori - its fantastic - some great ideas there. Now the hard bit for me is to transform it into a web!!!!!!!!!. Unless you fancy popping over to Spain for a couple of weeks - lol - I'll supply the sangria!!!!!!! Thanks everyone for some great help and advice - as you have probably gathered, I am a complete newbie to web design and build and initially I just had to get some content out.

A nice job, a few thoughts - enquiry form should it not be Inquiry form - The form should have the name on it. All pages should be in the same format - the first location is formatted differently then all the others. On bottom of page, include links for areas. Give business, economic, weather conditions for each area. On Costa Blanca, but model pricing on different page

Hi all... for any further visits to this thread, the link to the above mockup will no longer work. This concept has been viewed (from here LOL) and purchased by someone... NOT a member here. Thanks Outfront for being here and sending me business without even trying LOL.
