I would appreciate constructive criticism. It has been critiqued to death already but some more never hurts. Language Usage: Translated from Danish not yet proofed in English. One little thing I found but you may already know about it. Bobby, Thanks for the nice comments - the object is not only "give" lessons but also ultimately for it turn into a sort of swiss army knife resource.

Not just "copy and paste" either but also a lot of reference material.

So there'll be a huge section on IA for example (when I manage to find the time to translate my books on that and then edit them down to a web friendly size.)

As a general point how frightened are people of mathematics in the English speaking world?

Nordic types tend to like some mathematics used to explain why a browser or whatever does what it does. That may be an "off-put for" some in especially the USA. any thoughts?

Karen thanks, yes I know about that - it actually does it in all resized windows. Part of the reason I put such long H1s in there was to see how it affected people. I've got a couple of solutions but none of 'em are entirely satisfactory.

Andy thanks, yah I agree, about the narrative, I bunged a lot in there as an extreme example. In the real thing there's not so much white space as I keep the content short, - easily managed chunks of information.

One point the page weight is more or less what it will be. How fast did it load and or change for people. Scandinavia is famous for very fast connections, rural America rather less so. (I've done a lot of simplification but I can still "shave" some bytes off I think.)

On my other machine I've got a "newspaper" 3 column layour - unfair question but sight unseen does anybody have a hunch that it might work better?

Very crisp. I don't think there is any picking to do here. I think you have done wonderfully with your English - and only found spot, here on your alternative layout that that had a err in the spelling: "This is an main lesson" ---- This of course should have an "A" rather then "AN" there :) The links expand on hover and make the text jump around (but I am sure you know that) I am more then excited for your launch and will be making use of what you have to offer, and then utilizing your approach to this, as you have proved yourself (to me) many times over on this board, that you are a wonderful educator, and a programmer to immulate. As Deb already knows, the past three weeks of my spare (not much of) time has been in the redevelopment of my Zenful Creations site into full CSS. I can thank the Zen Garden for showing me that all CSS based design does in fact NOT all look the same, and that your options with it are limitless. Love the colors and layouts. Good commenting in your html and css. Everything displays okay in Firebird but in IE when you mouse over the links on index.html the text gets out of whack. I wish more people would give that kind of help on their sites. One very good feature is the printer friendly page design, save the time of the reader - always a good thing IMO. When I am using a website/page for training I often prefer to use a print version because I find I absorb the content more easily, maybe because I can curl up by the fire to read! It was quite a challenge to come up with a css only version. Of course as a simian myself I kind of like their name Outfront isn't a relevant site to it yet but being born lazy its far easier to run a global search and replace routine to uncomment it than it is to stick it in. Of course all of the standard elements are going to be done using SSI but I was born believing that anything that saves effort and gives equally good results is good because it leaves me free to get on with the interesting stuff. Note to Shirley: Being a chronic insomniac helps :-) Note to Bobby Douglass: I may very take you up on that kind offer and I haven't forgotten that little makeover for you either, 'though you've been too poltite to remind me! There is something with the vertical line and page balance I am trying to figure out how to explain but will let you know. Similar on alternate view, the right vertical of the upper left text box is slightly off from the verticals
separating the links...

this will probably make sense to you in that my brain processes the image "off center" enough to make me see 2 lines ??? (not 3, many!)

It loaded quickly in Firefox, IE and Opera. I like the fluid design which works particularly well at small window sizes. That's an advantage of not using images, but as a personal view I like to see some images on the page, it breaks up the text and makes it easier for the "intellectually challenged" amongst us (like me) to read and understand. I looked at your source code and style sheets, and I must say that I feel a bit like the 2001 caveman banging his thigh bone on the monolith! I've picked up a few tips so far, but I hope that you eventually are able to add some sort of "idiot's guide" explanation of how you achieved some of this... for instance I couldn't work out how you are controlling the vertical position of your content & footer divs, the only "top"dimensions I could see were for the sidebar and the header links. As someone who is just starting to understand a bit of css, perhaps I am not as up to speed as your target audience, but I think people at my level would benefit from a tutorial on using cross browser compatible code and the same style sheet for all browsers. My first efforts look brilliant in firefox, not so good in opera and like **** in IE. Your site looks great in all three! That particular template will be explained in a set of tutorials too but not for a while I'll be starting with very basics and working up. I should perhaps have mentioned that I'll be givng full links to further reading and sidenoting as well. Also thanks to everyone who pointed out about the links. I actually have that fixed in the "production version" and dragged in earlier code by accident. Talk about missing the obvious Patti (prelude) SO THERE? would you mind sharing the memory with me? The jokes would spark back and forwards between them. FYI Fiachra actually recorded it on a night that Uffe was allowed to sleep over in my room in the hospital a few days after I'd had a chemo treatment. And its true, we did snore in perfect synchonisation, mine sounding something like an angry bear with little gentle whiffling noises coming from him Even more FYI reports from the afterlife record that he hasn't changed. All the cherubim are now on valium because he has rewritten the celestial air traffic control system so that no matter what they do they constantly experience near misses.
