2 different copies of IE on one computer? - 4/22/2004 10:16:11
Hi all...

2 different copies of IE on one computer? What's the trick? I load a second version (5.5) and I get a window saying that a newer version (6.0) is already installed.

Thanks!

I only test 6 as that's what I have. There is a service you subscribe to and then it will render your site according to different browsers.

Yes it can be done, but there's a few extra steps you have to follow to get both versions to install and work together. Quite a few people are successfully running multiple versions of IE on one computer. Follow this link to get the step-by-step instructions:

Yes Virgina there is a Santa Claus.

And yes you can have have multiple versions of IE.

Since the link jeepless posted seems to go to the paid membership area, I'm posting another link I think will help you out.

I think this is the link I used when I installed multiple versions of IE on my machine. It's been several months since I did that, so I'm not sure this is the correct site, but it looks like it will still provide the information you need, as well as the download files.

Good luck.

Nancy

Nancy, thanks for catching the problem with my link to WebmasterWorld. It's not a site where you have to pay to view the information, but you do have to first register with them. I'm setup to stay logged in on that site, so I totally forgot about the need to register.

Thanks again!

Richard
