I think if you can blur the lake and trees just a little, make the logo, house, and mugshot pop a bit more, it might make a big difference... Or... you might try making the logo a lot smaller. About 150 px wide or so... rather than dominating the image. That might downplay the font and the color just a bit. I'm torn between - it makes it look daft and it makes it look approachable. I suppose it's all down to how approachable/attractive (I don't mean that in the "pretty" sense) the person in the picture is. The guy in your logo looks perfectly friendly so I suppose you can get away with it. There is SO MUCH competition even in this puny area, that what may help someone decide on which office to visit is how well they think they'll connect with the person. My feeling is that this guy will probably attract more of the older crowd that is flocking to the area - the retirees, mainly - because he looks mature, solid, trustworthy. The younger couple whose site I just designed will attract a different crowd. At least, that's my opinion. Don't know how sound it is, but it seems reasonable to me. Therefore, I think with his site I'm going to go for a more sedate site, rather than "trendy". I agree with Jabee's comment, the picture of the person is not a good idea, usually the only reason someone's picture is on their company's web site is because they insist on it. It is usually a big turn off to the majority of potential customers. It's cheesy and patronising - sort of like when the managing director (president in the US) insists on "staring" in the TV commercial. Second point when you are considering the older generation don't treat them any differently to the rest of the population. This is the generation that grew up with the beatles and the stones and all that sex drugs and rock and roll stuff, just because they are getting older dosen't mean they want to start knitting and making jam (jelly in US). It's very easy to patronise an older audience by assuming that they all conform to the preconceptions that we have of "old people"; most of them don't. _____________________________ I have a higher and grander standard of principle than George Washington. Just wanted everyone to know that I don't consider the "older" people fuddy duddies or anything. LOL. You gave me a good wake up call. Actually, I think young people might be very attracted to learning the "inside scoop" from an experienced local resident. Older can be wiser. Keep his target markets open-aged, I think.

I like the idea of "tastefully, eye-catchingly sedate." Even if Mr. Romich is 20-something at heart and rides a Harley on weekends, there's a perceptual problem for the typical web visitor to see an elder "not acting his age." I know that's judgmental, but we don't have the luxury of reeducating the masses. Our web sites have got to work!

Do you have any control over his web copy? I prefer "I can help." It sounds strong. "Let me help" sounds weak and begging, IMHO.

Getting back to your new header design... right away, it reminded me of... Steven Spielberg! It's just the right combination of bubble-gum fantasy... cartoon but real... clean and bright. Know what I mean? Have you ever seen his TV series, "Amazing Strories?" That's exactly what your design makes me think of, and I loved that show! Hey, how about... Bob Romich, the Amazing Realtor!
