I have already solved this above The fix is simple:


Go to Edit - Color Settings

Under the RGB BOX - Select - monitor RGB - Colormatch RGB

Do this and all your problems are solved!!!!

I'm not clear on what you mean by fixed. Do you mean that you've gotten the image displayed in "Save for Web" to agree with the image as displayed in the Photoshop edit window? In that case, you've defeated the purpose of the "Save for Web" display! If you've profiled your system, in all likelihood the images will appear differently.

mine have been removed. i think that it was the huge difference between psd file and the preview in image ready (when saving as jpeg) apparently for them it was *very* different. but now they have fixed it so it looks 'the same' to them i.e. as close it can be considering the lossy format of jpeg.

I have the exact same problem, only my images get darker. (and the above fix didn't work)
I work on my .psd file, and it looks great. I go to "save for web", and it is way too dark. This happens with jpegs, gifs, everything.
Additionally, if I go to View-Proof Setup-Monitor RGB, it does the same thing (the .psd is too dark). If the proof setup is switched to Windows RGB (for example), it looks great.

So I think the problem is my monitor settings. I ran the Adobe Gamma wizard in the control panel, but it doesn't make any difference. I don't know much about profiles, etc., so if anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

I have the same issue -- as does everyone I work with. We just won't use "save for web", because it washes out the images and reduces contrast by about 12% or more.

In Photoshop CS, when I go to Edit -- there is no "color settings" option. Here is the image of what I have available. What am I missing???

Now, when I just do a "save as" -- it does seem to look much better and richer when I preview the image in a browser. I sure do miss the features of the "save for web" function.
