hide url - 5/6/2004 3:31:50
I would like to create a link to a folder in the shared drive in my company. But i would like to protect others file or folder from the view of customer.

I am using some script to protect the shared drive address(hide the url of share drive) on the status bar when mouse over.

But, i found that the customer stil can view the address of shared drive thru
i) the properties of link;
iii) the address bar of the browser; and
iv) when customer click on the link and the page is opening, the address will show on status bar

What is the method i can use to solve this problem?
Thank you...

Hi Joan & Welcome to Outfront

quote:

i) the properties of link;

Unfortunatley - No

quote:

iii) the address bar of the browser; and

Using frames will get round this one, for the non-experienced users

quote:

iv) when customer click on the link and the page is opening, the address will show on status bar

As above

Wheres number 2?

HTH

Dan

You are best to set up the permssions on the server to allow only certain users access to your data than you are to try and simply mask the address.
The customers may have already bookmarked it.
Is this a hosted server and what Op system is it? Windows or Unix based?
