Sounds like they dont have any cash and want you to participate in speculating on their future success. More importantly, whatever you do, get "maintain their site" well defined! Personally, I only maintain sites on an hourly rate ..although if Warren Buffet wants me..............................

I think they are saying to you, If the site performs and gets us new business AND we are smart enough to make a profit with it, we will pay you. Personally, i want to be paid for my performance - not the sites. I have done sites for new businesses that I knew would fail. How did I know? dumb business models. Their site didnt "perform" becasue no one wanted the product or service they were offering but I "performed" when I built it and got paid!

your welcome..i lurked in this site for a couple years before joining and only got involved recently - best thing ive done in awhile (aside from the excellent batch of ale I just made). think about joining!

I had someone who wanted me to create a $2500 site and he was going to pay me once he got big. He is going to school but is in a band on the side.
Has absolutely nothing, so I had to say no.
I could have made the biggest mistake of my life and he might become big and have millions. There isjust too much risk in this.
I don't think that it is a good idea. It also depends on what you have to do to maintain it.
How many hours are you putting into it each month?
Are you doing any advertising for them?
Do you have to send monthly reports?
How much revenue will they make in their first month, 3rd month, 6 month, first year, ect.?

maybe..but maybe not - one of my beer drinking attorney buddies and I were discussing it when he was a sophomore (already too late). Had we registered lebronjames.com and USED it as a fan site, we could have made powerful arguments - and probably sufficient to get a cash settlement..lol
