Email & CSS - 5/13/2004 19:39:58
Hi all...

I am sending out an email using CDOSYS. It is HTML and I just converted it to CSS. ALMOST works!!! Problem is my style sheet is showing up in the email too!!! Is there something you have to do differently to the <head> to get this to work>

Page head:

<html>
<head>
<link href="http://www.signingshotline.com/css/site_nn.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" />
<style type="text/css">@import url(http://www.signingshotline.com/css/site.css);</style>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252" />
<title></title>
</head>

Thanks!

Just wondering why you cannot just use:

<link href="http://www.signingshotline.com/css/site_nn.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">

I don't understand why you're doing this. I assume you don't have the mail text actually appearing on a page. Just format the email in the normal way using HTML.

You are not sending the HTML and css to a browser, you're sending it to a mail client. Mail clients, as far as I'm aware don't interpret style sheets.

I know the bigger two (Outlook Express & M$ Outlook) only support text formatting via CSS, but the rest of it goes to pot
Email readers have far greater diversity than browsers and support of HTML ranges from none to limited CSS. While a few of the newest mail readers might support CSS, its almost always safest to stay with very conservative (ie:old) markup.
Jaybee, You might want to add this to the css thread with links. This way others will see this as well. Good find, thanks.
