Need tips for making thumbs of webs - 5/16/2004 9:49:40
I have been attempting to make some thumbnails of the home pages of some of the webs that I have done to include in a portfolio page. I have not been real successful in having something that is sharp and clear. Most everything is sort of fuzzy and blurry.

Can anyone share tips in how to make clear, sharp, thumbs of a web home page?

when you resize try and do it in multiples of 25% and and use unsharp mask (or sharpen in PSP if it hasn't got unsharp mask) and then go to the final size, using unsharp/sharpen after each go. Unless the page has lots of jpegs you will probably find it's better as a gif as well.

remember that a .jpg is "lossy" and each time you save it, it lose info. so if you have been messing with them, take a new screen capture in psp and resize the psp image before you convert to .jpg or gif. Ive never been able to make a crystal clear one but ive made some ok ones.

it takes a little experimentation with the amount of unsharp mask and the radius
i did resize to 25% and used unsharp mask, then resized to 186px wide and bit more unsharp then saved as 256 colour palette gif

Hi Rita

Take a look at Lori's portfolio (http://www.zenfulcreations.com/client_list.htm)

Just take small shots of the page at the top[, showing some graphical style.

Remember, I'm still on stand by when you need help with it all

Hi Rita

Let me just hack into your PC here for a second or two

I just had a look at your resize properties in PSP & you need to make sure it is "smart size". I struggled recently myself until I realised the "default" was changed.
Also if you are using a .gif image make sure it is converted to 16million colours before any resize, then resave it back as a gif of jpg.

Here are a few thumbs for you.

What ......only one image per messages.......
