Font page error - 5/20/2004 17:56:58
I have a site on my server that uses a frontpage form to send information. It used to work and now it doesn't. When i click submit on the form (information form.htm) i get the following error. FrontPage Error. User: please report details to this site's webmaster. Webmaster: please see the server's application event log for more details. I have no idea what to do. Any suggestions? Thank you for your time and help. Anthony

Log into your control panel and take a look at the Error Log Files. Also, make sure your FP Extensions are installed, you uploaded via http://yourdomain.com, and make a default form on a new page and see if it works.

Hi Anthony, Are you sure the file information.txt exists in the _private folder? If not, open a blank Notepad, name it information and direct the save to the _private folder of this web. In addition, not a good idea to use spaces in page URLs or file names. This is why you see the 20% thing. Better to use the underscore key to separate words.

Ok, i did what everybody suggested with the permissions in the dir but nothing. I was unable to find the FP security settings (sorry i'm a newb) if someone would like to point me into that direction? However my event log might shed some light for us, but i have no idea what it means. It says the following Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions: Error #2001d Message: Theme path doesn't exist "eclipse" not found. Do we know what that might mean? Thank you all very much for your time and help. Anthony

Permissions are in: Tools --> Security --> Permissions Go ahead and add an Author, you can always delete them if it doesn't work. Also wouldn't hurt to take that space out of the filename (%20). Use an underscore. Finally, if you have access to the server, why don't you just edit the page "Live" (server based web). That would make the form creation and the theme error go away. Search the forums for "Editing Live" or server-based web and you will find instructions on how to do it.

Well, unfortuantly what you guys had suggested did not work, but the problem was along the same lines. I actually knuckled down and figurd this one out on my own. Turns out the frontpage form was writing the information to a file and also sending it in an email not useing the mailto: function. the problem was my windows 2003 server did not allow relaying. So i just setup an alias on my mail server for the domain that it did allow relaying for and it worked fine. I can't figure out why the smtpd is messed up or where to make those changes. So if you have any input on that, it would be great :) Thank you again guys for all of your help. - Anthony
