cant publish its really weird - 5/21/2004 16:25:09
Hi, I have been using frontpage 2000 for many years...I have never had problems publishing my websites.. I am working for a client who has a different hosting company than I have used it the past. The problem is ...every time i try to http://www.mysite.com its like frontpage cant see or connect to the server and it just wipes out my address and leaves http:// i cant get to the password box that usually pops up next. I have done this many many times and have never had this problem. I just spoke with the hosting company for about the 3rd time and they verified their server and all properties of it are fine and he could upload the site (internally) and all other frontpage customers are on that server and working fine. all he had me do was to Ping the address and yes I could to that. from this publish - for the heck of it i put in some of my other web addresses and yes it could get to the password box just fine. this is so weird...i can not figure it Thanks for any help??? Jane

Ask your host to do what you are trying. Tell them to open FP and try to publish. Also, create a new web consisting of one page, and then publish that one page to the same address, but make sure the name of the file is not already on the server. FP should ask how it handles the replacement of the files, just make sure you do not select delete contetns of web on server. [edit]As for what Shirley was saying, sometimes the www. address can get considered a sub domain.[/edit]
