This is a specialised financial site, so I'm not looking for views on the content, unless any UK folks would like to try the calculators (!). You're welcome. They do work.

The colours? Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I'd be interested in the difference between the girls' & the boys' opinions... I've checked it for colour-blind people, and it stands up as well as other well-known sites.

The links seem OK, but I'd appreciate notification of any broken ones. (I don't think there are any).

In general, I'd just like to know what you think...

Personally, I don't like the blue and green. If you want to go with that combination try deeper versions.

You should also know that the coloured scroll bars will only work in IE.

It used to be said that "Blue and green should never be seen except on a queen", but that has changed on the clothes thing. Whether it has on Websites is another matter - I guess I'm hoping it has!

No, don't get me wrong, I don't mind blue and green it's just those two shades do absolutely nothing for each other. How about going with the green and using darker shades of it with the existing one.

Ah OK, jaybee. I'll have a look at that - I knew of a site where you could test colours against each other, but it won't be difficult to find again.

I actually come from near Luton, and my brother's company (for which I work) is there, but I work from home in Brussels.

By the way, I do know that the coloured scroll bars will only work in IE, but I like 'em anyway. ;)

This is not right yet, but I've simplified the colour-scheme a bit. I'm using the classic blue here, but it's only a test: http://www.wealthcare-uk.com/index_new_colour_tester.htm - any thoughts?

Seriously some of the green on blue text is virtually unreadable, and I assume that your target audience is likely to be primarily the grey market where eyesight is not going to be exactly pin sharp. I would reconsider the choice of colour if I were you.

OK, OK, I get the message. Everyone's getting sick. I'll start again with less movement & more 'restful' colours!

And, Donkey, I take your point about my target market - true, it's not going to be teenagers, that's for sure. Message understood, folks.

It's a good job John has a sense of humour.

The colours of the site reminded me of something but I couldn't think what so I ran it past my other half. He said...... toothpaste.

That's exactly it. Great for a toothpaste site, wrong for a finance site.

Hey, go easy, you toothpaste vendors. Financial sites can have colours - look at this one: http://www.thisismoney.com/

Is this on the other hand what you'd like to see my site look like: http://www.ifslearning.com/ - yuk! You're bored before the page even loads!

We have access to millions of colours at the click of our mice, and someone creates a miserable blue & white site. Reminds me of those awful blue & white kitchen tiles - cold & unfeeling.

Sense of humour I have (and need), but colours I *will* have ... just 'cos they're beautiful. I might not have got them right on this site yet, but just because I may be appealing to the grey community doesn't mean my site has to reflect the colour of their hair.

I'm going offline to get some food & ponder my navel which, I've noticed, is pink.

Thanks, Dan - I'm trying those colours. Take note, jaybee - Dan's colours are definitely *not* toothpaste. ;)

I've already removed two of the animated gifs & replaced them by non-animated ones - that should give relief for the seasickness!

Much better, but for professional looks, add this to the CSS in your <head> tags:

margin: 0;

If you need a bit more clarification on that, just ask.

The links in the top green bit, if you leave it at that colour, you need to make them a darker colour, they are difficult to read at the moment.

That's right - I'm not very keen on your green, Dan, but the blue's cool.

I'm probably going to cause a riot here, but I'm not using CSS. Maybe I just need more practice with it. I must say that it'd be a great help on a site with this number of pages... I know how it works, what it does 'n' all that, but I've tried it once, and I found it cumbersome.

I tend to set up a template page, then use the basic HTML for the other pages. Of course, I realise that means manually making changes to pages. CSS is probably the answer here, but I've got to get the colours & layout right first...

I've changed the links at the top to 'your' blue - is that better?

Think I'll remove my pants. Sorry - I thought that was just a bit of code to colour my scrollbar. I hadn't thought of it as CSS.

Anyway, seeing that there are about 65 pages on this site, I'm using the occasion to learn how to use a stylesheet - might as well get the most I can out of the operation. So any little tips like <STYLE type="text/css"> will help me. I'm going through http://www.w3schools.com/css/css_howto.asp at the moment - looks pretty clear...

I too would change the tones of the blues and greens. I would also add in a brown/tan shade for difference.

This would represent the colors I would do for a site like yours - actually they are the same colors that are represented in the FSA logo from your site:

Thanks, Lori. Actually, I like that style (which I've seen elsewhere), but I prefer it for a leisure site rather than a business-type one. There's soooh much 'in the eye of', isn't there? I am amazed at how you just sat down and did this for me without my even asking. Thank you again.

BTW, I've saved the page for reference, so you can remove it whenever...

I'm also amazed at how you got such a huge image file down to 43916 bytes. I have a large (but necessary) image at http://www.handscombes.com/how_to_find_us.htm , but it's 164973 bytes and only 600x646.

I do have an advisory there to say that it may be rather slow to load and, in these days of faster connection, I think there's less of a worry about that (though I know we should really build with the most disadvantaged in mind).
