Back at it - and struggling... - 6/3/2004 14:48:22
Hi All, I'm back at it, after a couple of weeks tied up with patient care stuff (how dare they go and get sick on us! ) and trying valiantly to get http://drmyattswellnessclub.whole-life-unlimited.com/ sorted out so we can get it up & running - the Doctor wants it up in the next couple of weeks... I rebuilt the lefthand navigation bar as a css, and it seems to be working fairly nicely, and most of the links are now live, I've cleaned up that ugly little bit in the lower right by taking out the doors graphic, and done some other pages that relate to this one. I've also run it through the validators, and cleaned up that which I understand, but there is a bunch that I just don't understand that remains to be cleaned up It is also not appearing the same in both IE and Netscape... will it ever? There is also a ragged edge on the right - it seems that all the tables are not lining up there - I'm thinking it might be because the table across the top is too wide, and causing it to have to scroll a bit, but I'm not sure how to go about fixing that... also, can anyone suggest some way to "tighten-up" the "product search" and "knowledge search" dropdowns so that there is not so much horizontal space between them??? I'm at a loss, though I'll keep working at it... I guess I really don't understand css - (dammit Jim, I'm a medic, not a web page writer! ) - at first I thought it might be a way to create a template that could be used for an entire site, and could be changed easily by changing one page and having the changes "cascade" down through the rest of the site. I'm now guessing that is not quite right... and that it is more to control the look (ie: fonts & the like) of individual pages... but I remain royally confused on this issue - I just can't seem to find an explaination of it that makes sense to my little brain ... Is there some way that I can create a "template" page, that I can use throughout the site, where the lefthand, top, and righthand elements are locked together (and won't change in dimension and look from browser to browser) and have it possible to make a change or edit in one place and have it follow through to all pages, while allowing me to change something of these elements on an individual page as well? (and allow me to plug in information in the central open or "white" area) Is this sort of thing better done by building a page that uses includes for all those areas? I have about 90% of the site's information written, so taking it and plugging it into a new template of some kind would be fairly easy, if I could get something cobbled together that would validate, render nicely in a bunch of browsers, and hold together while having stuff added to it - what I have right now doesn't feel like it is doing all those things, and in fact, sometimes it feels downright unstable... The more I work on this, the less capable I feel... it's frustrating... but I do appreciate the help from all of you that I've gotten here so far! Just sign me "Addled In Arizona"... Mark

Hey, I like the site you have a lot of information there. I think is maybe beter to hand over what you have done to a professional as your website needs an internet marketing service and should be designed to attract people from search engines from the bottom up not the top down. I would give Dan (Giomanch) a glowing reference, and suggest you contact him or someone of his abilities to take your site forward.

You shouldn't feel this way, you're doing a great job on the site. The information is clear, the colors compliment each other and it's easy to see that you are passionate about what you're doing. Hang in there! Swirl
