Boarder Width In Shared Borders - 6/4/2004 9:42:40
I am building a new site in FP2000 and using shared borders to list the pages in a left border. I am manually building the page links. But I don't seem to be able to determine the width the left border can be. I also want to place a sign-in box for an e-mail newsletter there and don't think I have enough width there.

Can I specify that width anywhere?

Welcome to OF. :)

I think you'll find the left border expands to whatever you put in it.

I had the opposite problem in that it shrank too much so I put a row of aaaaaas in the same colour as the background and that pushed it out to the right width.

Thanks JB,

Part of my confusion on this came from having a table in the shared border. I put my links in this (vertical) table and centered them horizontaly, but they did not center to the table width, but seemed to center to a narrower width, which I think was the orginal border width. This made it all off center.

Just knowing that the shared border will expand to what I put in it was a great help, and was appreciated.

Hi Zdawd,

If you are interested in a specific width, you could use a transparent spacer gif
