Tyler -> Problem with index.shtml asking for authentication (6/9/2004 10:05:41)

Hello All,
IIS5, Windows 2000 Advanced, FP Extensions 2002.
My index page has an server side include, so it is index.shtml. My main website is open to the public with anonymous/integrated windows security. Anyone can get to it without a password or anything. After a reboot, my index.shtml page is asking for a username/password when anyone tries to browse to it. I got around this by renaming index.shtml to index.html. This works and the page displays without authentication, but of course the include isn't there. Because of that, I thought that the include file itself may have had its permissions messed up and that particular component on the page was what is making the page ask for authentication. I've checked the default document, server authentication(still anonymous/integrated) and NTFS rights on the index.shtml file but I can't seem to open it up without being prompted for authentication. I also removed the FP2002 extensions and extended the web with the 2000 extensions that come with IIS5. Is it something with authentication? I've pretty much given the IUSR internet account full Read rights on the whole web root, including the folders that contain the include file.
Thanks!!
Tyler

Hi Andrew

One place to check is the server logs

If I'm reading correctly; the page displays correctly if it doesn't make the browser retrieve an "included" page? Check the permissions on the "included" file and all of it's components?
