What to charge for simple HTML updating - 6/21/2004 23:04:25
HI all: I deal with many promoters who needs the data on their websites updated, basic HTML, nothing fancy. I am in the NE part of the US. What is the going hourly rate to charge just to update simple HTML on an established site? Thanks!

I know people that charge from $15 to $35 per hour US$. At $15 it's a one person show, generally doing the updates in the evening after their "day" job. At $35 you're normally getting a full time web person (who may sub the easy stuff to someone else-see $15 person above). I also know several who bundle a certain amount of this in with the normal monthly hosting fees to give them a unique edge over a lot of their competition. At that point its tough to determine just what part of the monthly fee is set aside for updates. I've heard 1-2 hours monthly and a couple of changes per week. Hope this helps. Regards, Scotty

As Scotty says, there may be some $15/hr part timers but if you are doing this full time, $30 - $50 /hour
