Hi SJT, I went to view source and it looks like you have your code in there 3 times.

Go back over your html and see if it looks like that for you. If you can see where you have it entered, then just cut the code out two times, make sure you make a back up copy in case you do something wrong.

I hope this helps you out

Hum, this site was created in FP2002. I just looked at the html in FP and it is just in there one time.

Soooo, it looks like all the files on the host's server got corrupted some way.

Soooooo, I'll have the host delete all the files, and I'll re-publish the site.

Annnnd if it happens again, I'll be back!!!

Thanks for your help!

Stacy

Nice looking site.

Nice looking site.

Nice looking site. :)

Deb is quite correct. It's there 3 times. Don't you have access to be able to delete the files yourself via a control panel or FTP or something?

Are you using a Windows server with FP extensions applied? If so it could be a problem that your host needs to sort out.

In the source view I noticed that you were using FP "Include bots" which were replicating, probably each time you tried to republish and overwrite. This is a problem caused by the FP extensions and a host who has not applied the relevant upgrade of their system.

A similar problem cropped up in this thread

Screwed includes

Sometimes it's not us at fault :):):)

Cheers
Carol

Caz hit the nail on the head. The registry on the server needs edited to correct this. Call your host and point them to the KB article in the thread Caz dropped.

Take care,

Brian

Ok, I've talked to my hosting service several time yesterday. He insists that the FP extensions are correct.

Is there anything else that could be causing my problem?

Should I "prove my point" by creating a page without includes?

Been there, done that :)

My host replied in much the same vein as yours, but have they actually read and acted on the MS documents referenced above?

It's not just the extensions, as Reflect said, the registry has to be fixed and they have to apply ( this is from memory only) XP Sp1.

I spent ages finding the fix and then ages trying to get the server guys to take me seriously enough to actually read what I had found. Instead of pointing them to the references I ended up send them the text, following up with a phone call to say, "Look at your email...." and staying on the phone until it was obvious that they were beginning to understand. ( And that I was not just a dumb blonde ...)

IIRC I think that my site had to be taken out and I had to republish afterwards, but it was a couple of years ago and as they say - time heals, lol.

Keep trying and good luck.

PS. Yes do a simple page without includes, might help, but once that is published, edit it and publish again to see if that duplicates as well.

I'm back at this again...

Here is the latest email from the hosting company. looks like it's my fault...

quote:

Well here is the think I have uninstalled FrontPage and reboot the server and brought up your pages. And it still repeated... Then I uninstalled the cache like your suggestion for the site and nothing happened... Then I uninstalled all cache on all FrontPage site and that did not help then I reboot the server again and still repeated, so I re-installed FrontPage and still repeated so I rebooted again to make sure and still repeated... It has to be something in your code or the way your connation to FrontPage is encoding the pages.. I looked at the code and it is good so it has to be something in the FrontPage reads the files... SO I deleted all the FrontPage folders and files and the site doesn't repeat. Your user has been added again so you can add your stuff that FrontPage wants back but if it does it again, My suggestion is to use a CGI for mailing forms and everything else on the site looks like basic HTML and your problem is solved and NO FRONTPAGE JUNK!

Thank you!
Chief Technology Officer

Soooo, does this make sense to anyone? Could he be right? As I said earlier, the site looks great on

www.stacyjthompsonplus.bizland.com

My client is being very patient with me. But...

Preferably, one that understands Windows servers and registries:)

Why not try the hosting services on this forum?
