Can't scroll down the Page!! - 7/3/2004 11:39:19
Hello. Today I copied a webpage into Frontpage, but when I opened it the vertical scrollbar wouldn't move down...it was disabled so I could only change the top half of the page! I have no idea why...When I preview it, it shows the whole page...but when I try to work on it the scroll thing on the right is disabled! Please help A.S.A.P! thank you!

<<Today I copied a webpage into Frontpage>> aDcDol, Please tell us exactly what steps you took - a URL would be helpful. Did you ... import ?, copy/paste all? copy/paste selectively? what was your source? Also, what version of FrontPage are you using?

I went to file - Edit with Microsoft Frontpage. The website is www.habbo.ca and the version I am running is 2000. When the website imports to Frontpage, I can only see the top half of it because the scroll bar on the right is disabled so I can't scroll down to see the whole thing, but when I preview it the whole thing is there, it's just when I'm on the "Normal" tab it won't scroll. Please Help A.S.A.P! Thank you!

aDcOoL, On one hand you say you copied a web page into FrontPage, on the other you say you imported a web site into FrontPage. Are you trying to import an entire site into FrontPage or are you trying to import an existing page from one site to another? The vertical scroll bar on www.habbo.ca , btw, operates as it should in IE6.

I'm just trying to upload that page. The scroll bar works on the actual website, yes, but not on Frontpage...?

<<I'm just trying to upload that page>> aDcOoL, You're moving around on me too much here. Copy, import page/site now upload? The problem doubtless centers on the source of the original page/site and how you ah, placed/merged/copied/pasted/divined/transported/mo-jo'd that page/site with local files for www.habbo.ca .

I don't want to be accusatory, but it sounds like this site is not yours. It seems like you've tried to open/save/whatever without having the username and password and are only getting a small part of the files that would be needed. The reason you are seeing things in preview, is because the source code has absolute references to the needed files, many of which are coming from an entirely different domain than the one given above. I also believe many parts of it are done dynamically from external/or serverside scripting. So, in other words, nothing is wrong with your FrontPage at all. If I'm wrong on the above, and it is indeed your site, I apologize. And we then need to back up several steps so that you have all the files needed to work on the site. On the other hand, if I am right, what you're trying to do is called stealing. Nancy

Umm, Just to add to Nancy's bit, I am also not being accusatory, but I looked at the coding, and I saw exactly what I expect - Not a trace of FrontPage in the coding. habbo.ca is one of a network of sites. hobbo.com is also of the same basis. I had contemplated this, however, I didn't want to be the sore thumb in the thread. I have stated this b'cos, it takes a very talented web designer, with years of experience to create a web such as the habbo network, and to create it in FrontPage, without a trace of using FrontPage takes even more skill and knowledge, and judging by your posts, I regretfully have come to the conclusion that you do not posses these skills. My apologies if I am wrong Dan

Nancy & Dan, Your perceptive comments validate why I couldn't get a straight answer from aDcOoL.
