At least I know that I may slightly know what I'm doing and this craziness isn't my fault. :)

I will try that. I'm sorry for the aggravation!

The HTML isn't playing nicely. What I recommend you do is:

1. Open a page where everything is as it should be
2. Save it as a different file
3. Copy over the content of the file to replace
4. Delete the Original
5. Rename file to suit
Dan

Well, it looks like you're not getting away that easily! LOL!

BTW, I had already done this a bazillion times but it didn't cooperate. I used the contact page as a "template" and deleted the unnecessary stuff and added what I want for my help page.

Now, it looked like it would cooperate until I put the text on the page:

http://www.adoredjewelry.com/testpages/helpfile-test.html

The above page looks like you may have an easier time of figuring out my problem for me (thank you!) because my copyright and bottom navigation links are there, but they are too far over to the right.

They have to be directly under all the rest of the page and left justified. I tried decreasing the indent but all it did was move the text within the graphic boxes to two or more lines.

Contact page aka the page that has it right:
http://www.adoredjewelry.com/testpages/contact.html

Here is the link to the template I created which also has the copyright and menu in the correct spot:

http://www.adoredjewelry.com/testpages/barebones_template.html

Do you want the link for the original template I bought?

Thank you for the help!!!!!
Steph:)

Might be something FP related, as I moved stuff over here and there in FP2003 last night, and the content of the page appears in Design view, but disappears when viewed in preview or a browser. If you copy the coding into FP you'll see what I mean. Haven't got that bit solved yet, but it's a start

Looking forward to a "final" solution! I appreciate the time and effort you are devoting to this for me.

Dan,

I'm using FP 2002 and you're using FP 2003 and we're both still having the same problem. "We" really means "me" but you're involved now! LOL!

I really can't figure out what's wrong with it. :)

Like you said, it's a start!

Yes, it's true that you don't get paid, but when someone (me!) comes up with a problem like this one, I hope it's still fun for you. Otherwise, it's work!

I managed to weed out the unnecessary files and I sent you what we need to work on.

See ya later!

Steph

Dan, I've had a look at the code on one of the pages, there are multiple TABLE tags missing at the bottom. Taken me about half an hour to correctly align all of the code and I noticed that there's a chunk missing at the bottom. I could be wrong though, but don't think I am. The contact etc. code seems to be in the wrong cell, it needs to be inside an outer TR tag.

The structure at the minute seems to be:
<TABLE>
 <TR>
 <TR>
 <TR>
  <TD>
   <TABLE>
  </TD>
 <TR>
 <TR>
  <TD>
   <TABLE>
    <TR>
     <TD>
      <TABLE>
     </TD>
     <TD>
      <TABLE>
     </TD>
     <TD>
      <TABLE>
      <TABLE>
     </TD>

Which ends at a different point to which it started. You'll probably have to look at the original template code. Plus, do you need ALT tags if you're using a TD backgound?

I'm not a code freak really...

Mark

p.s. like the Iron Maiden reference in one of your posts!

I'm gonna compare the orignal to the "formatted" version.

it doesn't really matter if you don't close off the tags on the table, as long asyou clos on thre table cell and the body.

Ooookay then! I did think that if you've opened a tag and not closed it it'd cause some form of malfunction, but anyway. I'll let you get back to work on it!!

Mark

"Start tag: required, End tag: required"
http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/struct/tables.html#edef-TABLE

of course IE (and some others?) will allow some lee-way

I've left tags open before and had no problems. Will still check against the original though, as I think the problem is there as well. I doesn't open too well in DW:)

:)

I normally do that when creating webs, I close them as I go along, it's so I can preview in browser to see if the layout is going as planned. I don't leave them open on the finsihed web.

The joys of hand-coding:)

'tis Dan we're talking about here! Only joking mate. It definitely is those missing tags, the page displays fine to a point and then tries desperately to fix the problem and fails.

See what you find anyway,

Mark

p.s. I think I should add a 'code neatening' section to my site or offer it as a service!
