Here honey...hold my purse. - 7/8/2004 14:02:22
Hello All,

This is a small website that I am doing for a friend. It is my first website that is directed to my feminine counterparts, so I want to make sure that it is appealing and definitely not 'macho'.

This is just a template. My hope is to keep it clean and simple, with the focus being on the products.

Designs by Cindy

As always, your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Very pretty, very femme, fresh looking - great job!

though I'm not sure I like the headless people showing off the bags (I know the idea is to draw attention to the bags but it goes against everything within this photographer self to see torsos without heads....LOL)

I can see why you've done it, but the headers in the gey and purple/mauve colours look just a little to "washed out" IMHO. To me the overall effect of this looks almost like slight blurring.

I hasten to add that I'm not your target audience.

Otherwise it looks just fine.

Well... I am in touch with my feminine side (in an extremely macho way of course).

Well I like it, headless people and all.

I think you need to have a word with Cindy though. A web site is a bit over the top when you only have one bag. :)

You couldn't see the difference between the bags? :)
I'll admit the differences are a bit subtle, but after just a few hours of up-close inspection, you begin to see the change in color and shape. :)

Donkey,
I was a bit worried about the 'blurred' effect. I may try to go a little darker on the gray to try and sharpen it up a bit.

Peppergal,
I am still 'up in the air' over the headless, handbag models. My dilemma is that when I shrink them down a bit, then it looks more like a clothing site, rather than handbags. However, I found that when I was at the top of the page, I still wanted to scroll the page up to see their heads. :) What to do...what to do?

Keep 'em comin'...I'm a glutton for punishment. (Just ask my wife.)

How about a collage of a few handbags of various sizes and colors, looking like they were "carefully dropped at random" there...as if Jackson Pollock got hold of them....:)

...hey, then I could be an 'action artist', just like Mr. Pollock:)...or I could take a few handbags and spray them down with silly string.:)...could be the start of a new trend.

...that really is a good idea that I will experiment with.

Site looks great with the exception of
The Headless

It kept getting the feeling I needed to scroll up.

The Headless Handbags...sounds like a really bad rock band!

OK, so I get the hint...no more headless models.

I couldn't get a collage of handbags in a format that I liked...so I went with the model pics instead...heads included.

What do you think?

It's better...but there's something about it that I just can't put my finger on....I don't know...but it's a definite improvement over the Headless Handbags. LOL

All but one thing that I can think of has been said. This is totally a personal pref, but I would like the link doing something on mouseover. I think "motionless" links are a bit boring.

Any of you ladies want a handbag on me?:):)

I was about to say, " Kids - attention span of a gnat", but hey, Dan's right. Because the links don't change in anyway, you are not too sure that they are links.

I rember back in the 60's there was a band called the "Handless Head Bags", their lead guitarist wasn't up to much though, and when the drummer's wrist clips came off he couldn't always get the sticks back on.:)

I do agree. While I am trying to keep it as simple as possible, it does seem to need something else. I'm thinking some sort of faded image (possibly a flower?) behind the models or logo, or perhaps some type of simple design pattern. I'll look into it.

That can be easily remedied. I'll update it this evening.

Excellent ideas...I appreciate them all.

I was actually thinking along those lines...how about a close up or two of the actual purses, maybe? like a zoomed in view of the front of one, or a buckle or something...a little washed out compared to the models...?

I havent followed this thread but what jumped out at me when i ppeked brieflt at the page was this: if purses are the product, why are 2 of the three modles at the top holding (clutching) their purses in such a way as to obscure the purses?

Just a reaction, fwiw

It's a good job us Brits understand American. Over here a purse is a small thing you put your cash in. The things on the site are handbags or shoulder bags or bags for short. The purse goes in your bag.

I'm not mad on the models with heads either. I preferred them without. Does Cindy have a brochure with an arty shot of several bags/purses that you can scan?
