My new pure CSS Layout - 7/8/2004 19:42:56
Okay, here it is...

http://www.karenricedesigns.com/schmidt2/

Ya, ANOTHER "Lake Wallenpaupack Realtor!" LOL I'm running out of freshness ideas for this 13 mile long man made lake with 52 miles of shoreline which is the primary vacation spot and the fastest....(oops, sorry, it's a habit...wanna house for $249k??? LOL)...

Anyway...I'm pretty well satisfied with it though I like the IE rendering better than the Mozilla one. The IE one is almost exactly what I want it to look like, but Moz is a TAD to the right too much an the header sticks out too much...and I don't like my nav bar being so wide..when I try to hide it with the picture below it, then it gets too skinny in IE....

Anyway - any comments? Suggestions? Find something screwey in it? Should I let it go or stay up all night tweaking it more?

The navigation is going to have a CSS rollover horizontal list, when I get around to it. This lady is gonna flip because I've been having a devil of a time getting it to look presentable - the jpeg image I created was SO EASY and looked like it would be a piece of cake...this should have been done days ago. LOL

Needs some attention to the z-index on the sub heading.
This is the view in firefox 9.1.
Otherwise looks good.

I found a couple typos in the CSS, maybe that's what did it...I forgot to revalidate it after making some adjustments....

it gets pretty screwy in IE when the width is low... 'Featured Property' ends up on top of the paragraph above it

Sorry karen but it's gone all squished in firefox.

I was trying to upload it but for some reason it says I can only do files of 6k.

Karen

It looks like there are still a hell of a lot of bugs to wipe out. I'll have a go at it for you tonight

Dearest Karen

Here's what I've got so far:

http://www.giomanach.com/client/karen

Looks fine in FF, IE doesn't wanna accept the height: 100%; for the right column, but otherwise it's fine. And Opera plays merry hell, but are you bothered about that?

I have altered the design a bit. Me thinks it looks better though. You can solve the IE thingy on the hieght by setting an absolute height for it.

Whaddaya Think?

Dan

That looks great, Dan ...basically it's what I envisioned, so the change isn't noticeable compared to the vision I had in my head!!! I'll have to look at the code and see what you did different - or was there something ridiculous that I missed? Thanks so much.

Jaybee - you don't want a house there. LOL. That's the main overlook of the lake and has super high traffic about twenty feet behind those benches...I hate sitting on the benches listening to all the traffic behind me. You want a house HERE

the page was thrown together a couple weeks ago with much haste and in about twenty minutes - and it looks it. I added a few paragraphs highligting our recent adventure last night.

No CSS formatting, all pure bloated FP code. I created it to show to my relatives in Seattle and St Louis - go take a peek - the pictures will make you want to come to PA. :-)

Well that's good. She designs a site that makes you want to go live on a highway! Coooo what a cheat. :)

Your Grandpa's place looks beautiful. I suppose there's an International airport at the bottom of the garden. :)

LOL, I tell you, the whole area is turning into a mess of urban sprawl. Another 65 acres is up for sale (adding it as a listing to one of my realtor sites thru gritted teeth) with a title of "INVESTOR'S DELIGHT!" ugh...more development; more cookie cutter houses or yet another shopping complex...)

I really don't understand why people wanna come to the lake. It's too noisy to relax yet, with the exception of boating, there isn't much right here by way of entertainment aside from overpriced restaurants, a plethora of junk --er, antique--shops, and a couple shabby taverns (I suppose you call them pubs) that I wouldn't enter as a cockroach, let alone a member of the human race...

no, grandpa's has no airport nearby, but on the other side of the orchard is a water treatment plant for the private community that borders his property. The community used to be 200+ undeveloped acres of hunting grounds....

BTW "Grandpa" is really my dad, but once my first kid was born, he became grandpa to every one. My mom tried to christen him "Pop Pop" but I despise that and nipped it in the bud.

No changes to the HTML, just the Stylesheet, quite a few horid bits that will confuse the browsers, t'was valid, but not friendly. But don't worry about it all, we've all been there, and you'll write nothing but validness soon. Or do you need a CSS tutor?:):)
