markhawker -> DNS Problems (7/21/2004 9:53:15)

Hi, I'm getting frustrated now... we've got a domain name set up at www.theaether.net but the thing is, I can't view it, nor any of its sub-domains. Other people (Dan) can. I've contacted my ISP, they said the DNS host has set it up wrong, but he says he hasn't. Can everybody else view this page? If so, any suggestions why I can't? I've tried ping and traceroute and I get an error message.

In the browser I'm getting a 'Cannot Find Server' error. It's the same in IE, FF and Netscape too.

Mark

Great... the person who set it up gave me this link http://www.userbeam.de/cgi-bin/nph-userbeam.cgi/000000A/http/www.theaether.net/ and I can view the site from there...

just a shot in the dark but...... dns servers actually a lot of servers around the world. your domain is added to a particular dns server but all have to be updated which can take a few days- until that occurs, some people will be able to see the domain and some wont. for what its worth.

True, it has been about 5 days now though. I tried it at school too and had no luck. I'm just going to have to view it via a proxy until my ISP sorts something out. Cheers Dan.

5 days should be enough.......strange problem

I know, and it's an annoying one too. And you know what, it'll end up being a check box that's ticked and shouldn't be, one of those errors that you just hate!

I've told you once, I'll tell you again - Get Aaron to re-assign to domain

Dan

markhawker -> RE: DNS Problems (7/21/2004 11:21:18)

Dan, what do you mean by re-assign? He's a little confused, you're best to PM him. Everything is fine at his side he says, the ping and traceroute work for him, just not me. Mark

I'm getting a Mambo page is that right?

Have you cleared out your cache and History and forced a refresh?

More than enough. Is there anyone local using the same ISP you can look on?
Maybe the ISP cache is stuck. Had that once with NTL when someone changed their auto refresh times.

Not really, not with the same package as I have anyway. I've sent the ISP an e-mail and all they suggested was the host's fault, the host denies there is an error! Hopefully I'll be upgrading to broadband which with give me different DNS server addresses which SHOULD, fingers crossed, solve the problem!
