What is going on here? - 5/17/2001 16:52:00
Ok, Maybe you guys(and gals) can tell me whats going on.
I completely changed my truck website. I built the new site while the old one was was still up. After I finished building the new one, I re-named it to index.html. I also deleted most of the pictures that were on the old site as well as the old site itself.
However, When I type in the URL, it still comes up with the old website. I've deleted my History, deleted all the Temp internet files, and I've hit shift + reload and it still comes up with the old site. It even loads up the pictures that have been deleted from the server!!
I'm pullin my hair out here.
Take a look, what color is the background on the site that comes up on your computer?

the bg is black when I pull it up.

Have you tried importing the web to your cpu, making changes and then uploading those changes? Are you using FP or other?

Black. What color is it supposed to be?

Have you considered making more pages so you don't have so many graphics on that first page? It takes an awfully long time to load.

Man, you guys are quick.
It's supposed to be light grey. That's the old page that's coming up.

Goober, the new page is much better, that's the reason for the change. I only connect at 33k. It was taking forever to load my own webpage. You can see the new one at
www.gitchesum.f2s.com/index.htm

It comes up fine if you type index.htm. I changed the extention to .htm as that is what my other site uses. It's on the same server.
I'm using FP2000. I'm starting to think there's something wrong in the server department. My other website doesn't work at all. I'll give it a day or two. I guess that's what you put up with when you use free servers.

I would recommend going in live and deleting the whole site. Then publish the new site without adding index.htm in the url.

To enter your site live go to File > Open Web > by Folder Name type in your url...http://www.... > Open.

It will probably take a while for it to open. It will look just like your normal FP web page. In the Folders list, delete the very top line > Save > File > Exit.

Now Publish your new site.

Well, everything seems to be working fine now. I didn't do a thing either. Beats me.
Anyway, thanks for all your help.
