FP2003 Blogging add-in - 7/30/2004 13:09:17
Hello.... first time caller :)

I am working on MS Sharepoint customization and I was told by our client that FrontPage 2003 comes with a bloggin add-in that can be integrated with Sharepoint and was wondering if you could help me find more information about this.

Thanx,

SK

I've never heard of one... and I didn't see one listed on the add-ins page on MS website, or via Google.

Blogs are pretty simple creatures tho, you can get them in .NET that should work well on a FP site. You can also find them in ASP, PHP, Perl is probably the most popular format (CGI)

I've used Greymatter ( http://www.noahgrey.com/greysoft/ ) with Front Page before and it worked very well.

<edit>
I just ran across this:
quote:

I built my original, personal Website with FrontPage 2003. I would have continued using the product had Microsoft built in blogging capabilities. Technically, the company has. FrontPage 2003 does come with what Microsoft calls a "Web Package" for creating a Weblog. But the feature requires Windows SharePoint Services, which is part of Windows Server 2003.

From here:

So it looks like thre must be something to it...

I just found this....

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/odc_fp2003_ta/html/odc_fpwhatsnewo2k3.asp

It is said that "...FrontPage 2003 comes with ready-made Web Packages for use with SharePoint sites, including an out-of-the-box "blog" (Weblog) site and an issue-tracking site, both of which can be customized in FrontPage to match your needs...."

Anyone know what this is?

I have FP '03 at home... I can check there.

If it's included, it's likely under the Web Components menu under Insert...

I didn't see anything under add-ins or under Web Components...

it might be something that you'll only see when you're live on a server that supports Sharepoint..?

Has anyone made any headway with using FP 2003 to set up a web log (blog)?

Any information would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks,
Cal
