Thomas Brunt -> charset=windows-1252 and seo? (8/4/2004 10:29:06)

Somebody just told me that an "expert" told him the following meta tag was not compatible with search engines.

<meta http-equiv=content-type content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">

Is that true? I find that very difficult to believe.

I always thought metas were there to help the SEs and browsers, not hinder them. The charset metas merely tell the browser what, if any, language packs will be required to view the page.

I may be wrong...but there we go[:)]

That's my understanding too. I have received confirmation on this from several other sources including pageoneresults. The above assertion is offically balderdash.
