Traffic-Power / First Place / 1P Clients - 8/4/2004 11:40:59
Hello everyone! It has been awhile since I've posted, business has kept me from being active in my most favorite FrontPage forum.
For some of you, this may be old news. For many of you, it is something that you need to be aware of.
There is a search engine optimization company out of Nevada by the name of Traffic-Power. They've been in operation now for a few years and have secured the business of thousands of unsuspecting clients in the search engine marketing industry.
In the past few months, Google and other search engines have been banning Traffic-Power client websites. This is due to the practices that they use in promoting websites. They've generated millions of dollars in revenue from unsuspecting Mom and Pop type clientelle.
Please, if you've been contacted by a Traffic-Power sales representative and are considering using their services, it is suggested that you do the diligent research first to determine if their methods are what you are looking for. For most, this type of promotional strategy that is offered by Traffic-Power is not for you, especially if you plan on being in this for the long term benefits.

Just a note : traffic power will tell you that the only reason people are booted off of google is because of a problem with google itself, with an impressive letter regarding this. They won't explain the blacklisting others (search engines).
When they give you clients to look at and contact, tell them you only want to talk to the clients that have been with them for three or more years.
They WILL tell you that the only people that warn against or talk badly about them are other SEO forums, citing that they are jealous. They will also say that you can;t find their site in google because they are GOOGLE's competition! (That takes some... er uh.. guts.) However, they have a <META content=noindex,nofollow name=robots> tag.
If you do want to try them out, they do use gateway/doorway/advertising pages. Many of their old clients have pages that will redirect on mouseover. Their linking methods are not too great, but get you links. If you are looking for an initial boost in traffic, etc., do not expect for it to last long.
OH, and tell them you will pay a max of $1,000 for 6 months (they will go as low as $600 down and $133/month for three months).

The Consortium have been notified this morning that Traffic-Power.com out of Las Vegas, Nevada is now operating under another name of First Place or 1P.com. This has been confirmed by verifying Whois information and IP address.

Traffic Power has made my last 3+ months a living hell.
When I first got banned they lied to me then they lied again and finally they lied some more.

These people are the scum of the search engine community.

Yes, they give the white hat SEO's a bad name. The white hat SEO's aren't jealous just concerned with the black eye that is being given to the whole SEO community. Reputation is everything in this business.

You may also want to take a looksie at a post I placed on my own forum a few days ago about the Traffic Power / 1P Scam Forums they have launched to discredit many of the global SEO experts and attempt to regain some face for themselves.
It is quite important to warn people about this one.

I got another call today. They explained away the problems, that "one of our clients was using cloaking software"... well, NOW they are buying similar domains and hosting them, full of keywords and putting up gateway SITES instead of just gateway pages... so that the client will never get blacklisted.
Anyhow, they pitched their new PAY PER VISIT mod -- and then showed me client sites, whereinI was CLICKING ON THE CLIENTS' ad! I asked if I would be paying for the clicks of other potential clients - but he changed the subject. It is adnetpros.com just so you don't get suckered. Truly horrendous.
When he actually went through my site, he told me that babysunprotection.com could be ranking in the top five for baby sunglasses, toddler sunglasses,
infant swimwear, and stroller sunshade. Wow. Do they qualify us at all before calling???
And then they tried to discredit nay-sayers -- and to that I say -- I contacted our own Anthony Parsons for an SEO quote in a google sandbox panic and he told me I was fine and not to touch anything, and he was right and ethical and a month later, my rankings were back up again.
