quandary -> Site Redesign for me by Outfront member (8/11/2004 12:50:10)

My jewelry site is being professionally reworked and polished by Giomanach, a prominent member of the OutFront Webmaster forum. He's fantastic to work with!

The operative words here are "is being". We know it is not done. That's obvious. It just got started and looks better than many other sites! Way better!

I highly recommend him to anyone and everyone who needs a site designed or redesigned or any other website-related work or other design work. His imagination is superb!

I am thrilled with the new look of my site and I can't wait to see what else Dan Cooper comes up with for it!

Please see my site here:

I welcome any and all comments.

Thank you,
Steph

It's all in latin and none of the links work [:)] Perhaps we could critique it when there is something worth seeing.

Andy

'tis a nice layout, maybe there needs to be a little more space between the header image and the navigation links. Plus, I'm sure you have it under control Dan but your CSS doesn't validate, you have a few 5-digit colours. I'd maybe consider adding underlines to the FAQ, I know this is probably in the process too. Overall it's nice though, an improvement and shadow of its former self.

Peppergal -> RE: Site Redesign for me by Outfront member - critique please (8/11/2004 20:41:28)

looks good!!

- though I'd like to see borders around those links in the horizontal nav menu to make it look like buttons being pressed when you hover.... but that's me...

flashlight -> RE: Site Redesign for me by Outfront member - critique please (8/11/2004 22:03:33)

More space between the header and the text.
Pics of jewelry or "featured pieces" instead of a huge page of text for a merchandise site.

Bump up this post when you have your links working, I'd like to take another look.[;)] Good job on the graphics.

quandary -> RE: Site Redesign for me by Outfront member - critique please (8/11/2004 23:22:56)

To everybody, Dan has only been working on it for one day. I started this post so the people who were helping me out in the other forum could see what a spectacular difference there is in my site now as opposed to before.

Steph

Thank you, Peppergal, for the compliment, the suggestion and for making a comment that does not state the obvious (like other comments in here). [:D]

quandary -> RE: Site Redesign for me by Outfront member - critique please (8/11/2004 23:33:28)

Thanks, Mark! Of course, it's still in progress and will take a while since it just got started. I appreciate your comments and suggestions.

Steph

I don't validate my CSS till I've finished....whilst designing...I will leave errors there...until I get the web complete...and positioned properly

Scooby...stop finding clues...lol

You mean give the a border like so, on hover of course:

border: 1px inset #000000;

I'll see what I can do....[sm=kiss.gif]

And guys....I can only work so fast.....I gotta get the proper content sorted for the homepage...two links do work....the contact page and faqs are up....working on the rest.

Dan

But, why not just add another '0' when you're typing the CSS?! Save you a lot of time!

Heh heh, I know, but it's good to give you a cyber-kick-up-the-butt!

p.s. Steph, I like the edit of the original post. And we know he's only been working on it a day or so, we're just giving him feedback to give him a challenge!

Normally I'm lazy and just use three characters [:D]

Northerners...!! I guess, but then you'd get a different colour. Anyway, keep up the good work and let us know when you're finished.

I should have known these remarks were just to tease Dan! I took them way too seriously. Sorry, folks! Anyway, I still stand by my words and think very highly of Giomanach!

Oh, and thanks for mentioning my editing the first post. Gotta spell things out for some people! [&:]

Not you, of course, Mark. [;)]

Giomanach -> RE: Site Redesign for me by Outfront member - critique please (8/12/2004 7:21:58)

I really didn't see it that way. I think of attack dogs and I think mean, viscious, snarly. That certainly wasn't the tone here.

Most times when something is posted here in Critiques, it is because one is looking for....critiques. Helpful suggestions, pointing out things that may be missed, etc.

And besides, Dan knows we love him.[sm=kiss.gif][sm=kiss.gif]

Peppergal -> RE: Site Redesign for me by Outfront member - critique please (8/12/2004 10:04:56)

The big purple thing was named Grimace, of all things. Great marketng technique - name something associated with your company after a pained facial expression. Duhhhhh...

Grimace was stupid and doofy.

That's it! Then there was a lady one and those fry type things! Anyway, everything's been said and I'm sure Dan hasn't taken anything personally. Keep up the good work!

Attack by puppies! Yes, I know it's supposed to be for critiques but Dan, Mark and "D a v e" were (believe it or not!) stumped by the problem I had, so I thought it would be best to post the progress here.

Besides, I love getting new suggestions! The more, the better. I just misunderstood the comments. So sorry! [:o]

Lastly, the second I opened up my new home page, I was thrilled. I really, truly love it!

Thanks for keeping the peace around here! [:)]

Well, I kinda jumped in half-way through, provided a solution but Dan shunned it! So, he took the initiative, destroyed the code, hid it away in the back of his mind, and started again! Dave's comment of:

quote:

I see that cheeky little northener Dan nipped in there while i was busy at work and helped you out!

Is actually quite funny when I look back! [:D] All in the name of fun though, I think I goaded more than provided solutions but hey, someone has to do it!!

Everybody has their own way of doing things. Somehow, I have become a member of Dan's fan club! [:D]

I'm glad all of us are away from that monster template! Sometimes a pretty face is just a pretty face! [:D][:D]

Complete with stickers, badges, t-shirt and over-sized foam hand-thingy. True about the template, sometimes some things are not meant to be...
