Another Newbie - 8/21/2004 10:12:55
I've done a lot of work on my new site, am totally inexperienced, and have use the FP 2000 Theme "Construction Zone". Please look at my site, www.cofcare.org , and tell me the truth about how to improve it. Thanks.

I agree with Dan - a good effort. My only suggestions would be to maybe move the menu down on the Home Page to the same position as on your other pages and maybe include a form for people to submit to get further information (maybe subscribe to a newsletter) Andy

I really like the site. I want to go back and read all of it a little later. The only thing I suggest is that the menu art down the left side really needs to be cleaned up. There are red splatters around the art that are very distracting. Just a simple clean up in PaintShopPro or something similar won't take long.

Jacie, I agree, but it comes with the FP 2000 Theme setup, and I can't find the gif files to be able to change them. I have changed the settings to show hidden files but still no luck to find them. I also think I'd like to change the colors of the links across the top (horizontally) but can't find them either. Any suggestions are welcome. Tom

Hi, I have never used a theme but I also have FP2000. I found this by going to the FP help put theme in the search, then choosing"Changing graphic in a theme.... Change the graphics used in a theme You can replace the graphics that are used in a particular theme with graphics of your own. For example, you can replace the background picture used in the Blends theme with a graphic you have created. You can also change other graphical elements, such as the page banner, bullets, navigation buttons, and horizontal line. You can also specify the font to use for those graphical elements that are displayed with text. In addition, each theme has two sets of graphics — normal and active — and you can specify the graphics to use for either set. Then, when you apply the theme, be sure to select the graphic set that you customized. When you modify a preset theme, you must save your changes to a new theme; you cannot overwrite a preset theme. For example, if you modify the Blends theme, save your changes to a new theme called My Theme. On the Format menu, click Theme. In the list, click the theme you want to modify. Click Modify, and then click Graphics. Under Theme graphic set, specify whether you want to change graphics in the normal or active set (if Background Picture is selected on the Picture tab, you cannot specify the graphic set to change). On the Picture tab in the Item box, click the graphical element you want to change. Specify the picture or pictures you want to use — depending on the element you selected, one or more options are displayed. For example, for Bullet List, you can specify three different bullets. To find the graphic in the current web or file system, click Browse. If the graphical element you selected displays text, the options on the Font tab will be available, and you can change the font. Repeat steps 4, 5, and 6 for each graphical element you want to change. Click OK. Click Save As. Type a new name for the theme (unless you have modified a custom theme), and then click OK. Apply the new theme to the web or to selected pages. It appears that you could change any colors that you want you just have to rename your theme because it becomes a custom theme. The graphic's name is accessible in the theme menu. In looking at the graphic in the theme menu on my PC they all appear to be rather splotchy as though they were saved as transparents without a clear background.
