d a v e Posts: 4013 Joined: 7/24/2002 From: England (but live in Finland now) Status: offline	hard drive going senile? - 9/15/2004 2:07:57 my hard drive is about 4 years old possibly a bit older. it's partitioned into 2 equal blocks of 6Gb (C:, D:) yesterday went to open opera and it wouldn't start, noticed my DW, FW, real player shortcut icons were missing. checked in control panel, programs still installed. look at d: which has between 1.2 gb and 2Gb free and there is now 4.5 gig FREE!!! :( whoa loads of stuff just disappeared, nothing in the recycle bin... checked with scandisk for bad sectors etc, nothing. I'm poised to install XP but should i be looking at a new hard drive first?! _____________________________ David Prescott Gekko web design

Either way, if going to XP, you need at least a 20GB HDD in there, along with DW, FW, PS etc you ain't gonna have much free space when you've finished. You need at least 5GB free during installation, recommended is 10GB...I still say 20GB is what you need at least...ah what the heck..I want a 250GB _____________________________ (in reply to d a v e)
