We all know that FP has a pretty nice search component that gets the job done well for lots of sites, but sometimes you need more.

Here is a very short list of search solutions I know about. How many of you have used them? How do you like them? Do you have any other solutions to add to the list?

Frontlook Site Search

I have had clients use Pico Search http://www.picosearch.com/
Here is an example Frontpage site that uses it ( I didn't do the design :) )
http://www.ergoindemand.com/

It was very easy to set up for the client.

Not tried the google one but i have the other two.

I have the older version of Frontlook search without being able to search across subwebs ... the bug bear I have with it is changing it to fit with different templates and also making it left aligned .. I have trouble with that sometimes I wish that were easier to do Otherwise I like it a lot I'm all for anything that can be added into FrontPage I much prefer it .. and if your an affliate of frontlook you can use the button that links to thier site that comes with it when you make a search page with your affliate link instead .. that's the nice thing about their system you can link to specific pages so you can link directly to the search addon page at their site. The other thing is I get to use a search box which I think along with a sitemap is a must for every site ... when you surf information sites a lot or surf sites for information this is a boon.

The atmoz .... you can't always get the look of your template right in their setup and it brings up pages you really don't want seen .. with frontlook you can pick and choose which pages.

google I've never tried theirs.

I use www.master.com for my site. They are free with no ads other than their small logo next to the search box. You can see it in action on my site to see how they do their search at www.westcler.org/gm/search.htm

They are very customizable. You can easily omit directories and pages from being searched. I really recommend them.

Hi Tom,

I use Atomz and it has been really good. I've had the freebie from word go and the only time I had a problem was when I bolted a froum in which took it over the 500 page limit so things weren't getting indexed. Entirely my fault, I wasn't thinking. I removed the Forum from the spider and it's been fine ever since.

However......

I've just had an email from them saying the thing is now so popular that they're going to have to include advertising banners top and bottom. :)

I'll wait and see what it looks like.
