You can't think of this like.....am I convinced or not, cause it just doesn't work that way. You WILL find plenty of domains, folders and filenames with three or more hypens within the SE indexes....not doubting that. What I am saying, and plenty of others, is that the search engines themselves have made this public, and are now targeting it. For example, sites in Yahoo and Google that have 10,000, 20, 30,000 + are all losing pages within the SE indexes. Why? Because the pages they are using are hypen rich keyword names spat out of a CMS. The entire site has not been removed, just most of their content. So, what about a 5 or 10 page site? Well, at present the algorithms haven't changed to automatically filter these smaller variable sites out, though it is immenent that the algorithms will incorporate a hypen filter as the search engine technologists have clearly stated it WILL be incorporated within futrue updates. Florida update has nothing to do with hypens. Florida update seriously kicked in semantics and anchor text, thats about all. Google only makes up 28% of search queries now, not 50%, so I would get out of that Google only frame of mind and focus on pleasing all three main engines. Whilst Google and Yahoo are now knowns for certain features and features that will be included within future algo updates, MSN is still a new kid on the block again with their new algo in beta to be released mid next year if all goes well. MSN are testing their block rank algo, which is completely different again. So you may as well start getting it right now while you have the time up your sleeve instead of leaving it till your site drops out and you lose business, ie. like most did in florida. They give us the warning, but people choose to ignore it.
