Server Error: Cannot open file "" for writing - 9/25/2004 21:49:17
I know that numerous people have posted this error but none of the answers seem to help me. I am not running my own server, I am trying to publish a website to a domain name i am "renting"? from a company called First Coast Webs. Whenever I try to publish any thing to this site i get the sever error. I log in with my username and password no problem, I just can't publsih anything to my site. I am using Frontpage 2003. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Do you know whether you are hosted on a Windows Or Linux Server?
Could you also post the Error message received when you try to publish?

I don't know if it is a linux or windows server, I think windows, but the error message is: Server Error: Cannot open file "filename.htm" for writing. This happens with every webpage.

Try getting the host to alter the login autheticitation, form Integrated to Basic, and ensure you are using an account with Admin Access
