GolfMax13 -> How to Swish in FrontPage 2000 (1/27/2001 23:53:00)

Before I dig a hole I can't get out of I thought I should ask a very basic question. How do I get the Swish movie from the file folder in FP to the page itself? Is it an insert? If so what insert?

I've published in the Swish program and have both files in the correct (i think) folder. So I think I'm ready to get the movie on my page in FP. I just don't know the procedure.

I'm really thick sometimes, sorry.

Thanks for any Help,

Joe

Try Insert Plugin
Then just point to the correct swf file.

See if that works for you.

I'm kinda lost too. I don't know the proceedure at all and don't know where to look for it. I get to copy html to clip board and paste it in and nothing happens, but then again I am a real biginner. Help us. Oh, help us.

How are you pasting the code that was copied to clipboard? It should be pasted into the HTML view of FP.

Here is an article from the newsletter that has a good explanation on embedding the files. Read through the material, and if you have further questions, please head on back here.

Okay, I think I got it. I was wandering how FP knew where the file was so in Swish, under file, I exported my swf. rignt into my web. Then pasted the html. This was not clear to me initially. Now what is the point of the replacing the html with the one from the article? What happens if I don't use it?

The code in the article is just an example of what your own code should look like. It will help you troubleshoot if something goes wrong. You should paste your own html code or use Gene's method above.

I dont know if it is the correct way of doing it, when when I use swish I just on the File menu click on publish, it then saves a ready made web page plus the extra swi file (or whatever it is called) in the file of my choice. I just save it to desktop, then open up FP in folder view and move both web page and extra and it seems to work, ive not had a swish page not view yet.

This is the same answer given to Suzkaw (above):

You have to follow four steps:
1) Export your swf movie from Swish to your web folder.
2) After exporting the movie, copy the html code by clicking the "Copy HTML to clipboard" option in the EXPORT tab.
3) Paste the code where you want it to appear in your page.
4) Make sure that in the html code, the name of the movie is correct (usually, it appears as "Untiled.swf"). If so, type it correctly.

It should work fine this way...

an added note. before exporting to the swf file, save the .swi file to the name you want the .swf file to be. This will automatically export the correct name for the swf, and the HTML will also be correct.
