video capture card - 2/11/2001 20:40:00
Can anyone recommend a decent video capture card? I'm not using digital, just want to input some analog video and encode it for my website. I'm still using my old Gateway 400, I think it's time to upgrade

Hey Andy,

Sorry it has taken so long to reply - but I Haven't been around much lately.

Have you tried looking into some review at ZDNet? They do a lot of consumer reviews on products such as this one.

Good luck! Would love to hear how that goes as I would like to try one out myself someday in the near future.

I use a small device called a 'Zipshot' I plug my s-video cable from the camera in one end and the other end has a cable that plugs into the computer. Bought this 4 years ago for my analog video camera and it works. You can capture freeze frames or streaming video.
No audio.

I use a Dazzle USB to capture video, some example's are on my web site.

You should look into the "All in wonder Pro" I can't remember who makes it, but they are reasonably priced (around $120), and can capture and encode into mpeg 1,or 2 with good compression and excellent quality - even at full screen. You may then want to consider the full version of Quick Time so you can encode to that, or get Vegas Video, or Adobe Premire to edit the video. These get expensive, but if you want to do it right you got to spend the money.
