I have designed a site (at the request of the owners) in frames. http://www.msccamp.com I know, I know, I couldnt talk them out of it. I am having a problem getting the graphics to line up correctly. Some I have used a backgrounds, and other as gifs. Any help or suggestions so that I can have the frames aligned and looking smoothly in both IE and NN would be appreciated. what would be the difference in doing the page in frames.. and not... are frames bad????

I tried your suggestion although I am not sure that it appears to be working. How does this page look on your monitors. Are there uneven breaks in the design. I do not want to go forward with navigational buttons until I am sure that I have everything else straightned up. Am I wrong in using these images as background picks. I have the whole image saved as an EPS file and I cut it up and saved as gif ------------------ Brian---

looks off.. im using 19" inch with 800 X 600 res.

You must have been working on this as I was looking at it. It looks ok in IE but you have to include marginheight="0" and marginwidth="0" for Netscape. Also, you're missing the closing html tag, </html>, so in Netscape your content is not showing. Sandy ------------------ www.alleghenyweb.com

The weird thing is that it looks ok in ie if you have your settings at 800x600 and if you have your address, and standards buttons showing. But if you dont have these standard buttons showing and you press F11, you will see what I mean about the background images not matching up. I would like to make sure that no matter what browser, and what settings, and what buttons are displayed above the adress bar in IE it looks standardized. I can not seem to accomplish this. Any suggestions. I am starting to think that I am not cutting the image up correctly. ------------------ Brian---

Hi, Brian - I wish I could help you, but I'm not experienced with frames. The page also is off a bit if the window size is reduced, so most likely also has a problem in low resolutions. Have you also checked it in a higher resolution? I see you have "noresize" on your frame, so I have no clues from there. I'm sure someone else will be along to help. Don't forget to put some "real" information in the noframes tags instead of "This page uses frames, but your browser doesn't support them." I'm with Linda on this one - I have very little experience in working with frames. But it does seem to me that getting the graphics to all line up with frames would be extremely difficult, when you take into account all the monitor sizes and resolutions people use, plus the different browsers. At least with tables you can allow for some of those things. Are you sure you can't convice your client to not use frames? What is the client wanting to accomplish that they feel frames is the way to go? Okay, okay I am not really asking, so you don't have to answer. Mostly I was just 'thinking out loud'. I'm sorry I can't help more. I did one frame site, that lasted about a week before I realized it just wasn't going to work for me. It is off in IE 5 at 800x600 with or without the tool bars. It is waaaaay off in IE5 at 1024x768. Have you checked your math?? Do your tables/cells/frames/images all add up correctly?? The image in the top frame is tiling for some reason and throwing everything off.

I just went and checked one I did a long time ago. I put a table in the top frame and put the background graphic in the table not the page. I do like it better without the graphic in the bottom of the main section. However the top frame needs maybe some slight adjustment for 800x600. The text links are cut off, so that only about 3/4 of the text appears to me. I can read them enough they could be used, but they are not quite as they should be. If I use the F11 key in IE to toggle to full screen, then I see all the text on those links. Thanks Nancy. Buttons are defin. on my list still. Until I create them I will need quickly added some using the text tool in FP2K. I will eventually create buttons for navigation that have alt text, and rollovers. I think I have it up and running so that it looks ok in different screen area pixel sizes and also in NN but I need others out there to confirm. ------------------ Brian---
